When I made my appointment for my consult I had absolutely no plan to actually go thru with the surgery. I went to pacify my family and coworkers. but once I met Dr. Geiss I knew then and there that I was going to do it... You are going to LOVE him. he has a great staff and wonderful support groups.

I had my lapband surgery done by Dr. Geiss in 2007. I lost 70 lbs then put back on 15. Back then, Dr. Geiss used a 4cc band and I've been maxxed out in terms of my fills for about 6 months now. I exercised like a beast to get 15 lbs off this past Spring and Summer but I fell off the wagon and the weight came right back on. I was hungry, eating wrong and felt helpless because I thought I failed. Both the band and I stopped working. I'm going back to Dr. Geiss to get a revision so he can put in the 10cc band on November 11th. He's a competent Dr. and his staff are very supportive. I really like my PA Mariam and there's another PA with brown hair and glasses who's very sweet also.

BTW, part of my problem could have been the fact that I only went to 1 support meeting. I was doing weight watchers for support because it was closer (which is a great program) but weight watchers rules and bandster rules are not quite the same.

Hi there:

I am in Ronkonkoma, NY and was banded on 3/29/10. I have a suggestion for a fantastic tasting Protein Shake, called Premier Protein. It is available @ costco and tastes fantastic! Stats of shake: 1g sugar, 3g fat, 160 calories and 30g of Protein. I hope you are feeling well.

Joan

Hi! I am also in Ronkonkoma!!

I also like the pure protain drinks- 7-11 has them so if you need something on the run, its a better option.

I had my surgery Nov '09 with Dr.Cussatti at Good Sam. I am alomst at my 1 year and down 110 pounds.

I can only speak for myself but, I absolutley suggest joining a gym. I cannot commit to exercising on my own at home, to many distractions, to easy to half ass it. I go to NYSC in smithtown and it has become a commitment- I know all the ladies there and if I miss a day they ask me what happened, it helps keep me motivated and the instructors will not allow me to half do anything:tt2:

Guess i'm doing something right:thumbup:

Exercising is definitely a must! I know its tough to think about especially when you may not even be able to walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded but start off slowly. Matter of fact, while you're in the hospital the nurses force you to get up and walk the halls (mainly to avoid blood clotting, gas pain, etc.) a couple of times. Walking was my exercise for the 1st 2 years but now 3 years in I'm able to jog a couple of miles.

Hi all!

I'm in Yaphank and was banded on March 24th 1020 in Riverhead by Dr. Paayal Mehta. I have lost about 74lbs so far. I love my surgeon and my band! :huh2:

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
