Tomorrow is my 1st day of my 6 mo. pre op diet!

Recommended Posts

I have an appointment tomorrow morning at 9am with a dietician, then I see a nutritionist once a month after that until my 6 months are complete.

I'm nervous, excited, and I'm scared out of my mind. I have no clue how to eat healthy, im terrible at counting calories, and im clueless about Portion Control.

Ive tried eating good this past weekend, and i was so hungry!!

I don't want to fail like I've done in the past. That's all I've ever known.

I really hope these next 6 months fly by!

I NEED YOUR HEEEEELLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!!

The dietician with tell you all about Portion Control and how to judge things using your fist, a deck of cards and a pair of dice.

Counting calories is simple. Just do it online using Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate or FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal.

For the sake of argument, this is probably your supervised diet, not your pre-op.

Good luck and keep your head up.

Hi Val, I have just recently finished my six month pre-op diet. The first few months went by pretty easy. I just cut out a little every day. What they want to see is a loss. It doesn't matter if it's 5 lbs or an ounce. I got through the last two months by taking an extra Water pill the night before. I know, I cheated, but heck, it worked. My family doc was, well let me say, an A$$ with me. So I went to Doc Curry (my lap band doc) for my pre-op diet. Good luck and it really does go by quickly.:puke:

OH my, I guess it is a supervised diet instead of the pre-op diet. Sorry, I had a brain fart.:puke:

I really hope mine flys by! I've been trying really hard to stay away from all the bad stuff, but I still catch myself wanting to snack on things!!! Ahhhhh

I've been walking at work around the parking lot for about 45 mins (on my breaks and lunch), then I walk about 3.5-4 miles at night. Man my muscles are definetly feeling it. Haha

I totally used the wrong words, it's a SUPERVISED diet. But hell, I'm still new at this. Haha

I'm hoping to lose about 30 lbs at the end of the diet, but we will see

I ended up having over 7 months between my first consult and the surgery. Will you have any classes on the mental/emotional aspects of over eating? I had to attend three (group therapy session basically) that really helped me to identify some of my issues. One thing I found was that I have a real carb problem. I like Cereal (no milk required), crackers, baked Lays. Things that go crunch.

If you have'nt done so yet; establish an exercise program. Find something you don't mind doing. And to start it does'nt have to be epic. If you need to start out at 15 minutes that fine. Personally I swim. No keeping up in class. Do it at my own speed. I have a Water proof MP3 player and do an hour everyday. In the 14 months prior to the surgery I lost 80 pounds via diet and exercise. I see the surgery as a way to continue to lose and to keep the weight off.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
