Recommended Posts

Walking seems to do the trick for me... I started to feel nasseated so I would walk until I burped, then I would feel Great! Hope you feel better. Maybe he can prescribe some phenergan for nassea. I was misserable for the first week and couldn't understand why I would put myself through this, but each day gets somuch better. Hang in there.

I know this is hard to hear but I would wait it out. I wouldn't let them remove the band right now. If there's any Fluid in it at all have them remove it and try that.

Hey girl I know how you feel, but it does get better, in the Uk we have to inject ourselves with fragmin a blood thinner and take fastabs and painkillers for two weeks after surgery , so we understand it isnt a pleasasant first journey, but trust me the pain does get better, but you will still feel odd at the site of the port, mine is in chest wall and boy that hurts if you dont sit straight or lie in a good position at night.

I am so dissapointed. I hate my band. I am in so much pain and discomfort. I am to the point where I wish I could have it removed and pretend like none of this never happened.

I was miserable and tired for a whole month after surgery, but everyday I felt a little bit better than the day before. Hang in there don't get discouraged. U WILL quit hurting and as the scale goes down u will be glad u did it.

did you not do your research?

Do explain how this shows that I have not done my research? I am pretty sure that throwing up everytime I have something to eat or drink does not clasify as " normal." don't accuse me of not doing my research just because I am having complications. This board is to provide support, knowledge, and our experiences with one another, not to accuse me of not doing my research. With that said, if you don't have anything nice to say then don't respond to my posts.

Wow! Where is the nastiness coming from? This poor woman is having issues and people feel the need to say something snide. Please think before commenting if you can't be supportive or at least pretend to be nice. Would you say the same crappy comment to someone who ended up in the hospital dehydrated or with other complications. Please explain then how ' doing your research' would have come into play.Guess those who feel the need to be mean have had everything go perfect and expect everyone else to be the same. Sheesh!

Update: I went to see the doctor again and he ended up emptying my band. I have a 10 cc band and he took out 2 cc's. He informed me that the liquid that was in the band is from when they check the band before putting it in me. Let's hope this works! Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences. I wish you all the best of luck.

I found that cold or room temp water/drinks made me feel nauseaous. It sometimes still does. I drank hot peppermint tea. I didn't like the taste but it made all the difference, seriously! Try it, it was a saviour for me that first month!!

Did you notice a difference after the liquid was taken out? I hope that it works for you.

Well, I am not QUITE as miserable as you are , and I did a years worth of research, but I can understand your frustration. The day after surgery I was in such pain that I thought every time I moved I was causing band slippage or the port to be pulled out. It's scary not knowing exactly what is going on in our bodies.

Not only that, but there are things that come up that I still don't know the answers to, no matter where I look. Like, since my band is unfilled, does that mean that technically, when I am healed, I can eat like normal prior to my first fill?

And, when drinking liquids, I have no problem taking big gulps or drinking within a half a minute of the last drink. Is that Ok? or am I hurting something?

It's new to all of us and we are all having experiences unique to our individual bodies. I am glad that you are feeling better and hope that you give it a chance like I'm doing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
