October 2010 Bandsters!!

Recommended Posts

Seems that Oct. 25th is a big day for some of us!!

It is so interesting how the pre-op diet is so different for so many. My pre-op diet is strictly liquids, no food. I'm supposed to have at least 4 Protein Shakes per day, plus I can have broth, sugar free popcicles and sf Jello. Also, Water with crystal lite. The plan calls for a minimum of 70 grams of Protein per day and no more than 30 grams of carbs. Then post op will be the same thing for 2 more weeks.

Good luck to all!!

Hi, I'm on 3 shakes a day (or 2, plus 1 Optifast bar), and 1 to 2 cups of low starch vegies at night, plus 2 fruit during the day, if I need them. Cooking the veg along with the evening meal, means I can sit and eat something with my partner, and not feel quite so miffed about cooking for him :-) I note from your profile that we are around same age, weight, bmi etc., so we have a good deal in common, as well as the lapband op.

Hey all,

Sitting here in my room in the hospital, Doc said surgery went great. I don't have any pain at the incision site (yet!)

no nausea (fingers crossed) I do have the shoulder pain and gas pain, about a 2 on a 1-10 scale where 10 is the worst. able to drink liquids great. Surgery ended at 3 PM and I got to my room at 4 PM and have walked the halls most of the time since. My tip... walk, walk, walk. It feels great. Lets hope tomorrow is the same or better. If anyone has questions please ask.

Nichole

Hi, getting excited but also feeling some trepidation. Trying to get everything finished up at work, before I start leave, so pretty busy. Wondering how I'll go, being a day patient, and hoping that my partner copes ok, if I am sick (he's a bit hopeless in that area lol)

Hey all,

Things are even better so far today. I was able to walk off most of my shoulder and gas pain (I must have walked 8 miles last night). Didn't sleep well in the hospital last night (noises) so I can't wait to get home later today. I am feeling just slightly sore on my insicion areas. I have a question. I cannot feel my port. I am swollen and bloated though. Had anyone had this? Will I feel it better soon?

Keeping busy is good, it will make the days fly by. We will have to compare notes on how we make out. Just found out that my surgery time has been pushed up an hour, from 8:30 to 7:30! It means we have to be there by 6:30. Kids will have to fend for themselves that morning.

And Nursenic, hope you are doing well. I would imagine that the bloat is due to the gas. Hope it passes quickly.

Been banded a week today. Was starting to get tired of of liquids already, but I went to the receipes that some people have put on this site, made one of them last night it was good I'm going to finish it up for lunch, chicken Enchilada Soup. Tonight I'm going to make another type, hope it is just as tasty. Hopefully this will help till I'm on mushies. One week and 2 day to go.:)

Hey Pat,

I'm pretty sure today is your big day. Sending you my prayers and very best wishes for a speedy recovery. Let me know how you're doing. Hugs Lynne

Thank you, Lynne for checking on me. Yes, Monday was my day! Everything went well. I couldn't have asked for better care. Needless to say, I slept all day Monday after the surgery. Yesterday I was up and moving (slowly). The pain was pretty bad. It was better this morning but is trying to act up again. I'm tired of the backside of this journey. I am ready to feel good!!! Maybe tomorrow.

How are you feeling? What are you eating? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Well, I better go walk a little bit and see what's for lunch. I think I need someone to tell me to "Eat this today". I get confused. But I know that this too shall pass.

Blessings, Pat

Well, I am on day 3 of my pre-op liquid diet. It is going pretty well now that I have found exactly what I can eat. My surgery is scheduled for Monday, October 25th! I am so excited I want to shout it from the rooftop that I am getting banded, but my family doesn't want me to. So being on here will give me that release that I need! I'M FINALLY GETTING THE SURGERY I HAVE LONGED FOR FOR SO LONG!!!!!!:)

Hello! I was banded on the 18th, also. My surgery was out-patient. I slept very good....in my recliner. I understand about the bloating. Ugh! The incisions are not as sore today. I think I can feel where my port is. It is a little poofy. I keep telling myself, "And this too shall pass". I hope it is soon. I'm like you, I want someone to tell me what's next. Let me know how you are doing. We're all on this journey together. Take care. Blessings, Pat

Hi! I just wanted to tell you congratulations! :) My children didn't want me to have the surgery. I finally convienced my husband and he is really being helpful. I decided that I was doing this for me and I am in control. I had my surgery on the 18th. I'm so glad it is behind me. :)

I wanted to tell you that I am from Lanett. If I can be of any help, let me know.

Blessings,

PitPat

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
