August Rush in bandland!

I hope its ok that I started this thread over on the post-op side! Just wanted to check in to see how those who have been banded are doing?

Im 5 days post op and Im HUNGRY. This all liquid business is really getting annoying. I think Im dehydrated too but Im going in to see my doctor today just to make sure everything is ok. I was feeling nauseous and still running a low grade fever. I talked with the doc last night and she said she didn't seem too worried about it but wanted me to come in today just to followup. Im going to ask her about starting some applesauce, pudding or thinned out cream of wheat. I need something more solid in my stomach.

To top everything else off- Im having female issues and bathroom issues. I started my period a week early 3 days before surgery even though Im on the pill and technically not supposed to start until this week. And I have a yeast infection from the antibiotics I got in the hospital. And then with nothing but liquids coming out I have a hemorrhoid. SHOOT ME NOW.

And the worst was last night when I was taking care of some lady business and was trying to be real gentle with my insicions so I didnt stretch too much and hurt them- well I got the MOTHER of all cramps in my lower abdomen (down below my belly button) that would not go away. I was in EXCRUCIATING pain and it hurt so bad that I really thought I was going to black out from the pain. After what seemed like 10 years (but really only 30 secs) things started getting better. But I called my husband upstairs and had him lay down iwth me just to make sure I wasnt going to pass out.

Anyways, after last night Im glad Im going in to see the doctor. I think I need to get some gatorade to drink because im probably dehydrated but just want to check with her to make sure its ok. And hopeing she will clear me to eat a little something. Im tired of feeling so weak and tired all the time.

Got on the scales this morning, and I realized that I have lost over 50 pounds. When in the world did that happen?

Am I the only one that their clothes are getting to big, but I refuse to buy new ones just yet? I have 2 pairs of shorts that slip off when I walk, so I don't wear them any more. I know my body is changing. I can actually see it and feel it in the way my clothes fit, but there is a little part of me that is scared that I will gain all of that weight back.

I wish my doctor would give me a fill. I have to wait two whole months from my surgery date of 8/6 to get my first fill! My actual surgeon who did the surgery left the practice and joined one closer to his home so I am seeing someone new. He is not too bad, but I am annoyed I have to wait so long for a first fill. He is someone who likes to play it safe.

However, I still have managed to lose weight without any fills. I just naturally eat less at every meal and the pounds have been coming off. I think I eat less for fear of messing up the band, but in reality, I don't need that much food to feel satisfied, especially not in the amounts I was eating before surgery. WOW. Could I eat. lol.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Well Melissa, when I went and had my fill done yesterday, my Dr. said he is going to quit doing lapbands......I just thought wtf..Am I going to have to find another dr? I may just anyway as i was self pay and only get two more fills for free. He left me feeling very down. He said because too many complications with the band....I'm thinking I want a dr. that believes in the band and cares!

WTH!!! What a bummer. He just did the band on you and now he says that!!! Did he just come to that conclusion?

I would feel down too if my Dr dropped that bomb on me. I think you should ask him for a referral or hunt up a Dr yourself that is going to stand by the band.

I wonder what made him come to that conclusion?

I have been struggling lately with hunger and its been throwing me off so yesterday I made a nice pot of white chicken chili. I got the recipe from bariatriceating.com. I had a protein shake w/ a greek yogurt in it thins morning so I'm hoping that and the soupy chili will get me back on track.

MOO...I love the encouraging vids on YT. I'll check you out later.

I wish I had the nerve and the technical savvy to do a VLOG. I have seen that there is a need for more mature ladies to show that they can be successful with the band on YT.

Tylee...congrats on being 50lbs down  can't wait to be there.

On an up scale....My first fill was yesterday....dah dah dahn Yeah! I can now get full on one can of soup. WOW, I can't tell you how happy that makes me! It also lasts about 5 hours before I'm hungry again:thumbup:.

I get another fill in four to six weeks..YESSSSS:lol:.

Was up to 1200 calories, back down to 800,,,hopefully this will last a little while, oh say four weeks or so:thumbup:.

All for now

Kelly

Had my appointment with the nut today. According to their scale I am down 27 lbs, which coincides with my 3 lb weight gain from this morning. I can now eat soft foods, including fish, chicken, cottage cheese, yogurt, veggies and fruits.

So after the appointment we went to the mall since we drive an hour to the doctor but only spent 10 minutes there. I had forgotten to bring a protein shake, so we went to Ruby Tuesday for lunch. It was my first real meal since surgery and I was in a restaurant, yikes! I ordered Salmon Florentine, which is salmon topped with spinach and artichoke sauce. It was perfect because the fish was soft and the sauce made it even mushier. I shared with DH, so I only ate 1/3 of the salmon, and I had mashed cauliflower on the side. It was so nice to have a real meal again, but I was so nervous. It took me a long time to swallow my first bite, lol.

I also found out that I do have fluid in my band, 4 cc's in 10 cc band.

wow, that's the smallest band I've heard of. That's cool.

I have the Realize band which is fully adjustable so there are no band sizes so I can't compare with any of you.

I for One cannot wait for my fill !!

good for you kelly. Im at about 700-800 calories a day and starting to get pretty damn hungry. Egg beaters are my new best friend lol ! how many cc's did you get?

I am now in Band land (in Sept but still wanted to post in here lol)! I am excited to start this new journey. Other then slight chest/shoulder pain and of course tummy being tender I feel great! Doc told me I could go right to mushies if I wanted to but she would prefer me to stick to full liquids until I see her in 2 weeks...which I am more then fine with... soups are way better then just clear liquids! I don't know what kind/size band I have..forgot to ask.

I need to go out and buy a good scale though. The one we have only goes up to 300 and now that I'm actually interested in weighing myself I need one that goes higher then that.

I was banded on Aug 13th... I've lost about 25 lbs..... And I am hungry all the time. I have my 1st fill on Sept. 13, Monday.... So stoked for it!

Beachbunny:

I believe my band is 10 cc. The Doc put two cc's in for a total of three cc's. I just don't want this feeling to go away:wink:!

At any rate, I get to go back in four weeks for another.

I am really ready to hit that sweet spot:eek:....I know, I know, patience prudence..but that it the hardest part!

I know everyone is different, but my appetite before "chauncy"(my band's nickname) was humongous (spelling?) and I really felt like such a looser because I had no control. At least now I feel like I have a little:biggrin:. It does seem like there might be a light at the end of the tunnel after all.

Peace out

Kelly:tongue:

hey girls-

Sorry I havent been around in a while- Im a preschool teacher and started back to work 2 weeks ago and its been hectic. Anyways, I saw my doc yesterday and had my first fill- 3cc's in an 11 cc band (or so the doc thinks- she cant remember how much my band holds). The fill was easy but she did do the local anesthetic before doing the fill. Which Im grateful for...i saw the size of that stinking needle that they were using for the fill! LOL! I didn't eat lunch yesterday so by the time dinner rolled around I was pretty hungry. Ate a chicken tender and chewed really well and also ate some mashed taters and mac-n- cheese. Had no problems getting food down. But today is going to be the real test- hopefully I wont be as hungry as I have been the past 4 weeks.
