August Rush in bandland!

Recommended Posts

I hit 43 lbs last week. I have my port replacement surgery scheduled for Jan 6th, so I'm hoping that my weight will continue to lose and that I will not be sick to my stomach anymore!! Everyone is doing so well, I can't believe we are almost at our 5 month post-op mark :)

Jamelyn.....you have done sooo well, on sheer will power...be very proud of your self!

I'm such a loser. I gained 6 pounds over the last 3 weeks. I'm so disgusted with myself. I didn't exercise for nearly a month, and I made horrible food choices. I got to drinking sweet tea again. That is a big no no. I think I counted one day where I had 4 glasses, and we are not talking small glasses. I was drinking a cup of coffee a day with sugar and cream. That is another big no no. I stepped on the scale this morning, and I wanted to cry. Maybe that was the motivation that I needed to get back on track.

The only thing I can do is get back on track. Today is a new day and a fresh start. I've already done my exercises for the day. I've already got supper in the crockpot. We are going to have chicken tortilla Soup. I dumped all of the sweets that have been in the house for the holidays in the trash. I'm bound and determined that this is a new year, and that I will lose weight. I don't want to be the fat mom any more.

Tylee, you need to be in this for the long haul, remember.....protien,protien, protien...and exercise. Make your tea with truvia, or splenda, and the flavored creamor is only 35 calories per tablespoon! Come on lets kick weights butt!

I think it is knowing what I did that sabotaged me is the key. I got back on track yesterday. I told my lap-band buddy at church what I had done wrong. I told my support group what I had done wrong. Yesterday, I did every thing that I was supposed to do. I felt much better about myself yesterday than I did in all of the holidays. What is funny is that I felt smaller at the end of the day. I even stayed away from here because I was embarrassed.

I will not let the weight gain defeat me. That was the old me, and I would have given up. This is the new me. I will WIN.

I was up on base doing my grocery shopping yesterday, and the commissary has started selling Pure Protein Shakes in the can. These are actually good, but the only place I had seen them before was at the Vitamin Shoppe and HEB. They average any where between $1.50 - $2.00 per can. They had them for less than a $1 a can on base. I got me a couple of boxes of them at that price. Plus all of my new Leslie Sansone DVDs have shipped from Amazon. They should be here Thursday. I can't wait to get them.

Bmammom,

I totally feel your pain. I was banded 8/12/10 and had lost 26lbs pre-op. I immediately lost about 13lbs after being banded. Then bandster hell set in and I struggled just to not gain anything back. I had 3 fills within 90 days post-op and only began to feel slight restriction with my 3rd fill. I have an 11cc band and was at 8cc at my 3rd fill. I began to panic, and felt like I would be the only person who this surgery would not work for. I had a .75cc fill on Wednesday and I feel like a new person. For the first time in my life, I'm not hungry. Don't give up, you will get there. I was hopeless a week ago, and today I am so excited. Good luck!

Hello August Bandsters! I was banded 8/30. I lost 50 lbs pre-op and have only lost about 12 pounds post-op. I know I should be beyond excited but I'm fighting frustration.

I've had 3 fills. After the first two, I hardly felt any restriction; however, after the third, I felt some. I thought it was perfect at first, but now after 7 weeks, I'm able to eat more. I've gained 3 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I usually just stop eating when I know I should have had enough, but sometimes I don't. (I have to admit, I've been on "vacation mode" with this winter break...snacking more, even drinking some alcohol on our recent vacation.) I see my doctor tomorrow and I imagine I'll get a small fill.

In the mean time, I could use some support. I'm feeling kind of alone in this process. I was very active in the local support group during the summer when I lost the bulk of the pre-op weight. Unfortunately, they meet in the morning on a weekday and I can't attend now because I'm a teacher.

Anyone else out there going through some of this?

Just to put it out there and have some accountability.

I'm starting all over tomorrow.

I'm constantly complaining about not losing more but I really can do a lot better with my eating and exercising.

The weekends are really my downfall.

I do well all week and then on the weekend starting Friday night I want to have some wine or a drink and i eat stuff that I shouldn't .

I'm going to give myself a fresh start tomorrow morning and I will do a colon cleanse along with eating well. I will measure my portions and journal on Livestrong and get at least 30 min. of exercise for at least 5-6 days a week.

I'm making this promise to myself . I will hit my 50 lb mark by mid February. Banane43.gif

sounds like we are all hanging in there and getting on to the right track. It isn't easy, however together we can do this. We've faced our demon for the holidays and some of us got lost, we forgave ourselves and put a plan together to get back on track. Everyone who has posted here is a winner and we will win this weight thing.

The only thing that I have read here is that we all are human... Kelly, you are such an inspiration in encouragement....I love your posts!

Well my weight is holding steady at 191. I just can't seem to get into the 180's. I've had a cold for the last week though so no exercise for me. I'm puffing on my Advair inhaler just so I can breath sitting down.

Hopefully in a few days I can at least start walking again.

9.5 pounds lost last week. I'm so excited with that. I hadn't taken my Water pill in over a week, so I know that part of that loss was water weight. It was just so good to see such a huge number. I worked hard last week, and I watched every thing that I ate and drank.

Hey August Bandsters...

My progress is pretty halted. I haven't lost a pound in weeks. My restriction is TIGHT...constantly getting stuck but that's more my fault then the band's fault. But i'm finding i'm never really full :( I need to up my Protein and cut out the easy to eat stuff.

I'm frustrated but i know most of it is my own fault. I wish there was a website just for Lap band eating plans.

Hope everyone else is doing better than me!

Pam :)

I found that if I start my morning off with a Protein Shake instead of something to eat, that the entire day I eat better.

I got another 1/2 cc today. I'm still coughing so hard that I can't even think about exercise this week:( But at least my weight is holding steady.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
