Dee, I am so happy to hear from you~ I've been wondering how you are. Good luck getting 100% on track.

I go in the morning for my big 18 week ultrasound.............wish us luck!

Hey!!!!

Congrats on the baby Boy. I love baby boys so precious. We don't have any children but when my Sister got pregnant I wanted her to have a girl so badly but she had a boy and he was so much fun and funny and loving and just the light of our life and then she had a girl and we loved her too but she was a girl with all of our little attitudes and fussiness.

Glad to hear from you too. I'm fine just distracted with people and things but still trying to get back on track. Haven't been 100% yet but I will not give up. It's not that easy once your off plan to just fall back in line.

I am trying to eat my Protein so this morning I had a pc. of turkey and I also had my first PB episode...Ughhhhh!!

I ate too fast and too big a bite and tried to do everything to make that go down but it had to come up.

I will be successful with this band no matter what.

Thanks for caring.

Hello Everyone,

I don't have time to go online a lot but could use some co-miseration. I was banded on Aug 24th and I am down 24 lbs. so far. I thought it would be more since I go to the gym a lot and don't eat that much any more. I see some people are at a plateau like me. For those of you who have lost more...what is a typical eating day for you? It's very frustrating for me and could use some helpful hints.

It is inspiring to see so many people moving down the scale so keep up the good work

:(

Hey all...I think most of us are to the 3 month point now right? Going into this, I thought I'd have more restriction and weight loss at this stage. I have had 2 fills (4cc's in a 10 band) and really still don't have any restriction. But, I know it's a journey...

For those who do have good restriction, can you tell me what it feels like? My current experience is that when I'm feeling hungry, I will eat 1/2 to 1 cup of food. The hunger pangs do "go away", but I still feel like I need/want more to be satisfied. At 1/2 to 1 cup I feel like I'm only "half full". Does that make sense?

I am hoping that at some point I will get a "full" feeling on that amount of food, not just a reduction in hunger pangs. Is anyone there yet?

Best of luck to everyone! Stay positive and just keep going.

The scale this morning finally moved in the right direction. I was becoming obsessed with it. I promise not to step on it again until my official Monday morning weigh in.

Well, everyone

we are coming up on our 4 month.....Well Dec. 3 will be my 4 month banddate.

I just got my 3rd fill yesterday, and am really feeling it. So no turkey for me tomorrowB) .

This morning it took a looong time to eat some Soup.< /span>

What a great feeling, never in my life could I get full on one can of soup. I used to be able to eat 2 or 3 big cans of chunky soup, and would be hungry in a couple of hours.

As you can see I am up to almost 40 pounds gone for good:D !

I have been walking between 30 and 60 minutes a day for about 10 weeks now and have to say I love it!

O.K. guys, everyone needs to report in and say how they are doing.

All for now,

~Kelly~:Banane04:

I'm not doing good at all. I have no restriction and I'm starving all the time. I haven't gained any weight but I haven't lost any in weeks either. Right now I'm very discouraged. I know it will happen eventually but right now I'm so unmotivated. It sucks to be hungry all the time but at the same time have trouble eating certain foods.

Spoiltmom, I think we are all about doing the same. Hell, I've been on a platue for weeks now, but my clothes are getting looser. I only just got my 3rd fill yesterday and up to that time I was starving and not able to eat certain foods too. If you check back on other peoples old posts that I think you would see, we are right on schedule.

Just enjoy your Thanksgiving, and soon you will get your next fill!:Banane04:

Hey Amanda,

It's msdv. I had to change my user name because I had to re-register since they renewed the site. blink.gif Anyway, I feel just like you.

I'm still at the same point that I've been at for close to 3 months now. I do feel some restriction because I really can't eat much at all but I have been so distracted with frequent visitors and obligations that I have not been eating good food for the most part just what I can get easily .

I have been eating out a lot and even having some wine or vodka with my diet Snapple to chill out at night. As much as I wanted to have my surgery if I knew all of this was going to happen after my band date of 8/16 I would have put my surgery off for a couple of months.

Thankfully even with all of that I have not lost but I have not gained anything either . I will be getting my 2nd fill on Dec. 1st and I am hoping that I will start to lose again. I'm thinking I should at least be down 40-50 lbs by now.

I told my DH no more visitors or social affairs until I get myself together. I hope that will get me back on track. I cannot fail with this band I have to make it a successful journey.

The thought of failing makes me depressed beyond words.

Dee

Actually my surgeon doesn't want to give me another fill until the end of January!!

I'm gonna call next week though and see if he will change his mind. If I could lose weight without a fill then I wouldn't have gotten banded in the first place you know?

Finally got my first fill today. I spent all day in the day procedure unit. Had to do my fill under xray - surgeon still couldn't access my port so they sent me over to the public hospital where some doctor did it under the big xray machine with an extra long needle and contrast as well. Turns out my port was tipping when ever the needle hit it as it is still surrounded by Fluid. Anyway had 6mls put in and am on fluids for 2 days. Funny thing is, i lost my first kilo this week after staying the same for the last 4 weeks. Oh well, with the fill i should see the weight start to drop steadily again (hopefully). Hang in there guys we will get there!

Ok guys I need some help! I was banded on Aug 24...yay! I was doing so good, but now i feel like I'm failing! I can eat anything I want, and I know I am eating too fast. I have had 2 fills and am around 5cc in a 14cc band. I am hoping once I get my third fill on Dec 7 that I will have more restriction and it will force me to slow down. Am i harming my band right now if I eat too fast? I am not getting stuck, I am not feeling full after 1/2- 1 cup of food, and I find i am grazing throughout the day! AARGGHHH! lol Is anyone else feeling this way?

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
