August Rush in bandland!

Recommended Posts

I get my first fill on Oct. 4. I'm not exercising yet...with that said, I'm going to get started to jump start the scale, as I need to see the numbers go down. I have lost inches. I am not hungry most of the time. I feel obligated to eat at noon, but choose to have another Protein Shake or I will eat some Soup with crackers. I don't get hungry again until 4 or 5 pm. There are times that I don't even feel like drinking a shake at lunch, but I want to get something in. I envy those of you that have lost 30 lbs in a month. I'm 4'11" and I need to get this weight off! :smile2:

:thumbup:I just put on a pair of size 24 shorts, and they were to BIG!!!!! I can't believe it. I wasn't able to wear those shorts a few weeks ago because they were too small. I guess it is time to clean out the closet of all of the 28's, 30's, and 32's in it. :smile2:

I'm back on solids today and I'm not having any problems eating. I'm just trying to rely on my will power and stay below 1200 calories.

SO far it's 1 pm and I just had lunch. I'm doing good right now.

Was that your first or second fill?

It was my first. They added 1 cc and I had 3cc's from surgery so I'm at 4 now. I'm doing good though. I can still eat bread and really anything I want but I am satisfied and full eating less of it. I've even lost another pound. I know I'm not at my sweet spot but it definitely seems like my appetite is decreasing:)

I'm having this sensation too. I only have as my PA says 3.5-3.8c in my band but I am satisfied with much less food now.

Before my fill I could eat a whole sandwich made with a flatout wrap . I tried to do that last night and I had to take my ham out of the wrap it was going down really hard. the cold cuts I have are 50 cals for 3 slices so I tried to just wrap 2 0f those up this morning with a 1/2 slice of swiss cheese each. The 1st I shared with my dog and the second I just took a couple of bites and I was done. I'm down about 3 lbs since my fill.

We'll see how this goes. I'm wondering if my restriction will ease up soon which I'm expecting. No one hits their sweet spot so soon, right???!!!

Congrats to you Shadena!!! I am so happy for you. When I get to 180 I will be over the moon.

If you have that energy you will be 180 in no time maybe in the next 2 weeks or so.

I need a great energy supplement. Does anyone know of any?

I want to exercise harder but I don't have much energy at all.

Congratulations surgery buddy! I'm at 190 and holding! I so want that number to say 189, but I have to remember that it's not a race and I'm not competing with anyone but myself. I was so happy to see the 1 as the first number, I should just be pleased with the results so far!

I am due for my second fill tomorrow, I have to call and make an appointment, I can't believe it's already been 4 weeks since my first fill! I definitely need one...I had 3cc in my band already so they added .5 cc to it. For the past week, I have been able to eat a lot more food than I had previously, I even ate almost an entire Subway sandwich. I wasn't trying to eat it all, but I was thinking I would stop once I felt satisfied. I ate 3/4 of it! bread and all! Last night I went out to dinner with the family and brought half of my meal home and no dessert, not even a bite! I was pretty proud of myself...and the fact that I was wearing my size 14 jeans that I've never been able to get much of a leg into and now I can wear them and zipper with no problem! :crying:

Hope everyone is doing well. I am finding that I don't come on as much because sometimes I forget that I even have had the surgery and still need the support that goes with it. I know I'm not doing everything I can and should be logging on more, I'll work on that!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
