August Rush in bandland!

Recommended Posts

Had my post-op today and everything is healed. He said my first fill is 4 weeks off!! 6 weeks from surgery!! He wants to make sure everything is settled and the band can't slip before he puts constriction on it. He also said I can finally do some light exercise. I guess he is more conservative than most of you on here. It feels like a slow start. However he said even though there is no restriction on the band it is still more restrictive than if I didn't have it and to practice chewing and chewing and chewing. lol.

I don't know if it's in my mind but i do feel that . Even though I have no Fluid in my band I do feel like if I gulp too fast or eat just a couple more sips of Soup I feel it, so I believe what your Dr said.

Yeah, I feel it too. I am only eating 4-5 oz of food at each meal and I'm full so it is working. I'm just wanting it to go faster. I guess, better safe than sorry.

Has anyones Dr put them on a 2 week liquid diet like mine did? My diet consists of Clear Liquids, broths, and lets not forget popciles and jello...that is IT!! I have been very good with doing this but I'm STARVING and it kills me to even think that I have another full week of this to go. If I stick it through it will be a total of 16 days straight of pure liquids...can it get any worse?:o

I'm reading everyone elses posts and it looks like a week at the most.

My doctor says 3 weeks of fluids only and two of mushies after that and then regular food. I am on my 9th day of Fluid. I am doing well and making sure I get 70 grams of protien and no sugar or carbs. I have lost 1 pond a day so far.

my doctor also put me on 2 weeks of liquids...i'm barely going on my 3rd week and now i'm starting with more thicker liquids like pudding, yogurt, cottage cheese and thicker Soups.....it is hard but i pulled through it...i lost 15lbs the first 2 weeks...i know the weight loss is going to halt until i get my fill, but i'm trying to get as much Protein and Water as i can without overfilling myself and gaining the weight back....good luck!

My doctor isn't strict with liquids, but I can't use a treadmill for 4 weeks. I'm basically allowed to walk and ride the bike.

Any idea when you can start doing sit-ups?

Hi Everyone!! I was banded on Aug 23rd!! I am on a liquid diet till I see the doc on Sept 8th I am not hungry at all and kind of have to force myself to drink!! I do have blisters around my incisions from the tape that was on them, and was constipated so I called the doc this morning and I was told to take Miralax and to put hydrogen peroxide 1/2 strength on my blisters. The first couple of days I had a lot of gas, but I feel great now and I stopped taking my pain med during the day yesterday and only took one pill last night, so the pain is definetly going away ) I am so happy that I am on the other side of bandland so I can start my new healthy life )

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
