I totally don't blame you for not waiting till Christmas! I wouldn't be able to do that either! I think you will be just fine considering that your kids won't come till the 23rd, you had then last year, they are potty trained and you have good help. You'll be just fine. I'm so excited for you! Hopefully you will feel like updating us at least a few days after surgery, because I'll be anxious to hear about it! I'm sooooo excited!

Hate to jump in, but I am also in education and expecting insurance acceptance tomorrow, which hopefully allow me to set my date on the 13th also. We start inservice days on the 16th too, and I am not planning on taking off. The receptionist told me her aunt had surgery and two days later was sitting on a deer stand, so hopefully I can pull this off!!!

Michelle...I hear you about the Protein shakes! It is very hard at first to only do the shakes, meat and veggies! It's like detoxing from all of the junk. And Protein Shakes aren't the best tasting drinks :blushing: Hang in there! You can do this.

WildBill...Michelle is doing it, but she has help at work. In my opinion, you just have to make sure that you are taking it easy. You will probably be on liquids for the first too weeks so, you will be a bit week. I've also heard that most people sleep a lot for the first few days. So, maybe try to ease your way into daily activities. Also, my doctor prescribed hydrocodone for me after surgery, I plan to only take it for the first few days (if all goes well). If you are on something with hydrocodone or something similar, please don't drive while you are on it. Good luck! Keep us posted.

Oooh yay, WildBill! Very cool. :tt2: you will have to keep me posted on how you are doing! I think we can do this. Just have to hope we are both the lucky ones! :blushing:. I have a super high pin tolerance and am choosing to be very optimistic. :cool2: thanks for posting!!

I think the EAS AdvantEDGE tastes pretty good.... It's more "head hunger" I'm fighting! I've been working in my classroom a lot--that's helping... Staying busy. :blushing: still trying to decide if I am going to tell others at work about the surgery. I don't want to "keep it a secret"... But I don't want to be the campus discussion either! LOL

I've got a great support system. I have told everyone, probably will be some talk, but we are a small school and I consider everyone I work with a friend. Besides, they will really wonder how the weight comes off!! I am the asst. principal, so the week of inservice, I can take it fairly easy. Hope to stay in touch!! Timandmich, where are you having your surgery? I am having my done by dr. felts in dallas.

Wow- really?? That's amazing. How did you feel going back to work on your liquids, etc.??

WildBill- I'm Michelle. :blushing: I am having my surgery by Dr. Benavides here in San Antonio w/True Results. I'm excited for us! I bet you will not have any problems either--not like you need to be lifting little ones daily. I still can't decide about telling the staff......

Hey Michelle and Wild Bill,

Having my surgery on the 13th as well. And inservice starting the 16th. From what I hear it should not be a problem returning to work.. I am in the process of setting up my class so that I will have less to do when we officially start. Good luck to both of you!

And yes Protein shakes and meat and veggies do suck.. lol

I packed a soft cooler that I bought from Walmart and made sure I had a good variety of liquids to "SIP" on throughout the day. I didn't want to get tired of the same drink all day so I mixed it up. You stomach is swollen, but you need to keep hydrated. You can't take much in at a time, so please SIP. The hardest part for me was braking the habit of larger portions. MEASURE EVERYTHING and WRITE IN DOWN, this will help when you start getting adjustments. You will know how much your intake is. This will def. help the doctor do a proper fill. It takes time to get used to the band. Your eyes are always bigger than your new stomach. Pay attention to your stomach. STOP when you even think your getting full. It takes time to understand your new digestive system.

Good Luck!!:blushing:

Thanks for the advice onmyway-i appreciate it. What did you take for variety to sip on...? Did you measure and keep track of those drink too? I thought I might do that too. Makes sense that if you show the doc what you are eating and drinking, your fill shld be "accurate".

ms_mention: I also taught Kindergarten for 8 years. :blushing: yet another link. :cool2: how's your pre-op diet going??

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
