AETNA Approved my Lapband Today!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey Gang,

I am so excited and happy that I'm finally approved. It's been a long year but now I can put all that behind me. My surgery will be done in September. I'm going for my cariologist check on Tuesday 7/27. I'm going to read through the Pre-op posts regarding preparation for the surgery but if any of you want to chime in with suggestions/comments PLEASE DO :-)

Zippy74,

I had my surgeon consult today - but really didn't get anything accomplished. I was under the understanding from my patient advocate that once I met with him, everything would be spelled out and I would know what else I had to do. Today, I was told I need to schedule an appt with his NP to find out what other clearances (other than those required by insurance - which I have already met) are required. I was disappointed to say the least. I am a planner and was hoping to have a plan!

Good luck to you!

Wow jfriddell, that is indeed frustrating. The only things I've been told to do so far is see a Cardiologist (Tuesday 7/27) and then coordinate with the Red Cross for my blood donation. Once the clearance comes from the Cardiologist I am to have my 1 on 1 with my Lap-Band® Doc. I'll be prepared for more stuff to do now that you've mentioned what happened to you. Hang in there and I hope it all works out.

Congrats! I have Aetna and was approved by them in less than a week! I was shocked that it came back so quickly!

Thanks AmberK. It took me almost a full year to get approved. I guess it depends on which AETNA plan you have as to how fast/slow and what they want you to have done prior to approval. Regardless, congrats on your approval and looks like your surgery is just around the corner.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
