Hey Everybody, my name is Nancy and I was banded on August 13th. It's been a week today. I've done ok I guess but I am starving!!!! I will not have any restriction until one month from my surgery. I've already cheated a couple of times and had no problems. I've lost 10 lbs. I am 5'6" and weighed in at 226.5 the day before surgery. Thats when I started a clear liquid diet. I weighed this morning and it was 216.5 and I was thrilled. I am supposed to be on a full liquid diet for another wk. I really dont understand why if there is no restriction. Liquids just dont do it for me? I need some advice. I am screwing things up by not sticking to liquids 100% of the time? When I say I cheated, I had some won ton soup that had noodles in it. I'm not good on finding my way back so if you would like to email me at nancy.peach@ky.gov, that would be great!!! BTW, I'm in KY and would love some new friends. I'll post a picture as soon as I can figure out how.:)

I want to have buddies on this site..banded aug 16, 2010. Feeling good finally, was surprised that I hurt as much as i did. Looking forward to this journey. 30 yrs on a diet only to keep gaining it back, pray that this is my answer that i can lose the weight and for once not gain t back!!

Hey Gab, I was just banded on August 13th, so it's been a wk today. I've been up and down for yrs too. Yeah, we can get skinny together. BTW....my name is Nancy and I just turned 44. I'm the mother of 2 girls. The oldest is 25 and teaches 2nd grade. My youngest is 14. I'm divorced and I'm a RN. My email address is nancy.peach@ky.gov. I'm not really savvy with these type websites. Sometimes I get lost and cant find my way back. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi nancy, I'm emma. I'm 33 and I live in florida. I have lost 25 lbs since preop diet. I was banded on aug 12, 1 day before you. So we can do this together! I'm on full liquids now too and I hate it! I'm looking so forward to soft/pureed foods! This full liquid sucks and I'm just ready to start eating again! But it is very important to follow the progressive diet because our stomachs are still healing. If we go to chunky food too fast we can stretch the pouch and cause some serious damage. Now why would we put ourselves through that after all we have been through?! I have been eating sugar free pudding and low fat vanilla yogurt during this phase and it helps...they are filling and make me feel like I'm having a treat. Creamy soups with no texture are also good. Like v8 soup(butternut squash is my fav). It makes me satisified and has some flavor so I actually feel like I'm eating something real. I think those things keep me from cheating. Hope this helps! Let's keep in touch and help each other out since were both so new to this!

Hey gabwill, I'm emma. 33 yrs old from florida. Banded on aug 12th. It hurt like hell! Way more than expected. I'm still in pain....or ridiculously sore to say the least! But I'm improving every day. I too would like some buddies on here so I hope you and me and nancy keep in touch!

I am going to email nancy here is my email and we can keep in touch that way looking forward to our journey

Hi - I had to wait 9 months for my insurance to go thru so I was so excited too. You are probably starting your pre op soon - the weight just melts off it is amazing. I had my surgery on the 16th - it went fine, feel freeto email me juliemcummins@comcast.net.

Hi Nancy, I sent you an email

Hi All,

I was banded 8-17-10, also had a hernia repair. i am doing fine so far and today i just had to eat something besides clear liquids, I had 1/3 cream of wheat and 1% milk. Then for lunch i had butternut squash soup about 1/3 cup. it was wonderful! I am now supposed to try getting the added protein drink this week. Is that to be a meal? I love hot food and it satisfies me for much longer mentally than cold stuff. I think I will try it and have bought samples of unjury protein suppliment.

I would like to have a mentor and have posted here and there on this site,it is a great help to read them and to have the interaction with others in the same place so to speak.

Hello to all of you who are new to our group. We are here for you! I was banded Aug. 3rd and haven't lost as much as I would have liked for the first 3 weeks. I go to my first follow up with my surgeon, Dr. Mikami, tomorrow. I think we all share in the same challenges here - losing, gaining, carbs, (and yes, cheating), etc. For me, the Lapband has given me hope. Even though the weight doesn't come off quickly, it does come off. The weight I have lost so far is weight that I won't ever have to lose again - I now have the resolve to keep it off, that I didn't have before. The Lapband is my last resort and I refuse to screw it up this time!

Welcome Everyone!!

I am the one on here NOT banded yet - just beginning the journey. I am really interested in how everything's working out for you!

I hope we can all talk soon!

Hello, count me in, I have a sept 27 appt. I am 41 and live in SE Ohio. I am being banded in Mexico and really want to have a support group.

Lisa

Hey Lisa I was banded in mexico as well and had Dr Corvala at Tijuana I feel it was good care and I did just fine,I was glad to have my husband along he was so helpful to me,waited on me the whole 2 days. I took very little in the way of things for a 2 day trip. left all jewelry off and took a light bathrobe and nighty. I had great pain relief and no nausea, but I spoke to them about this repeatedly knowing myself well. I wore a big lose dress home to fly and that was a good choice I always need a sweater on a plane and some folks really need a travel pillow to buffer the seat belt against the stomach area, also a nice stretch type bra as there is an incision right there in front under that bra line. The incisions are up high not down lower on the abdomen. I am so glad I am now on full liquids and feeling so much more satisfied. I am down 10 lbs from the pre op diet to now,but I have alot of belly swelling still. Gas pains are off and on still but easily handles with walks and gas-x and only liquid tylenol for pain. Incisions are healing fast to.

:) Hey all, I am Nancy, 47 year old divorced(after 27 years) Mother of two grown children and I live in Southern Indiana. Would love to meet and share information with some newfound friends!!

I am on my 4th month of supervised diet (well if you can call it that since I have actually gained 3 pounds). I have went to my seminar, had my first surgeon appointment and have my psych evaluation on September 24th. I know that I have a few more things to do but I am getting very excited and also very nervous since the thought of being put to sleep sends me into panic mode.

I weigh 226 and am 5'5" have sleep apnea and high blood presure - and I am ready to get my health and my confidence back!!!! Let's enjoy this long trip together!!!!!

Nancy

Great this is wonderful information. Did you have much trouble with the prop diet and losing enough weight. I'm just starting and very paranoid that I won't lose enough. Along with all my other fears of course. Thanks for replying. I can't wait to hear more.:)

Hey Lisa A, just keep chugging along with lowering your calories some and some kind of exercise and you will get there. It took me almost 2 yrs to make this decision and I too am always scared to go under during surgery, it is such a black place to be and no memory except to wake up in pain.

Here's something I learned today, I have had two of those unjury protein shakes one today and one yesterday, I had been putting them in the blender with ice and that puts alot of air in them, so frothy and lovely, BUT sure adds air and then I have suffered with gas and some pressure, had to take the gas x and walk, I will not do this anymore, I have a shaker coming in the mail and will just shake to avoid that added air. Those shakes are pretty good for what it is but they make me feel so darn full!:)
