  1. Well - I would absolutely call my insurance company to find out if it was covered first of all. My insurance did cover it but I had to go through a 6 month supervised weight loss diet with my primary physician and then once that was completed I was sent for blood work, barium swallow, chest xray and psycological evaluation. Once I completed those I was scheduled for surgery within the next week. Once you start the process it goes by very fast. I was banded November 30th and things have been very smooth for me so far. I have not lost the weight I was expecting to as fast but I have not gotten to that sweet spot everyone talks about yet. I had my third fill today so I am hoping this takes me to that point!!.

I know exactly how you are feeling!! I had my band surgery on Nov 30 - I had dropped 9 pounds during my week of liquid diet - I have lost a total of 20 pounds since Nov 23 - I just had my 2nd fill on Monday and can feel a lirttle difference - I am hoping that my next fill will get me to a greater restriction. Best of luck!!!!
  3. Hey just wanted you to know that it does get better.....I promise - I was just like you . I started the preop liquid diet on Nov. 23 and had dropped 9 lbs. on the day of my surgery Nov 30th. I then went home and waited my two weeks for the post op dr visit - lost only 2 lbs. I got my first fill 4 weeks later and dropped 8lbs. I just got my 2nd fill on Monday and feel like I am finally able to feel "full" I must admit that the fullness does not seem to happen until 30-45 minutes after I eat - so you may want to eat what you think you should and wait 30 minutes or so and see if that helps. I do not go back to the dr for my next fill until 6 weeks from now so evidently he feels that we should take things slow.....which I hear is the best way. I really wanted to think that this weight would just fall off but that does not happen as far as I can see - it does come off but at a much slower pace than we would like...although in the end that will be much better for us. Throughout my days after the lapband surgery I have been a scale watcher and it was killing me......one day I would look and I would be down 2 pounds then I would look the next day and be up those same 2 pounds.....I was even thnking that after a bowel movement .....I would be lower.....how stupid is that????lol I have finally gotten in the mode to stop weighing myself so frequently.......I am trying to stick to twice per week and would love it if I could just do it once per week. I promise we will do this........I too am afraid of being a failure but I think that I have gotten over that and am confident that I will succeed - it is just gonna take ma a little longer than what I want. Good LucK and Keep your head up!! Nancy
  4. Lyssa - Don't feel bad - I was banded on November 30th. I was 217 on surgery day - I went back to the dr on December 14th I was 214. I had my first fill Jan 3rd and have not lost a pound - the dr put in 1.5cc in my band too - I am so frustrated. It has been two weeks since my fill and I dont go back until feb 4th. This sucks!!!
  5. I just had my lapband surgry yesterday and I am unable to take aleve so the doctor told me to take the ibuprofen that I have. I had recently gotten over strep throat before my surgery and I have 800 milligram ibuprophen left and he said for me to take that for the pain....I have been taking and it really seems to work. Good luck!!
  6. I have Humana and it was smooth sailing for me and my BMI is only 36 but I have sleep apnea and high blood pressure. I was approved within 3 business days....my surgeons office says that Humana is very easy to get approved I would say to call Humana's bariatric line and ask what you need for approval. They are extremely nice and seem to be willing to help. My surgery is scheduled for december 1st...Good luck to you!!!
  7. Just got scheduled for surgery today...December 1 is my date...wow finally it is here...I am so excited but now I am so nervous too!!! I still have to have all of my preop testing done which will be on Friday Nov 19th and then my last surgeon visit on Nove 24th......the day before Thanksgiving I start my 7 day liquid diet.......I don't care!!!!!! I will be starting the New Year on the right track to a New ME!!!! Any December Bandsters - lets stay in contact!!!!
  8. Oh my goodness - I got a phone call from the insurance company (Humana) about 2 hours ago telling me that I had been approved and that my surgeons office should be contacting me shortly to schedule my last few test and to schedule surgery....I am so excited!!!! I have been waiting on this day for what seems to be forever and it has finally arrived....from what I understand I have chest xray, barium swallow, ekg and lab work left to do.....I am so excited...... It has only taken Humana 3 business days to approve my surgery....wow!!! Hope that all goes as fast for you all......you all are in my prayers!!! Nancy :crying::thumbup::w00t::thumbup::thumbup:
