Way too slow

I was banded Nov. 5th of 2010, just 3 months ago. I have lost only 21 lbs. since Oct. of last year when I started this journey with the liquid diet. I have lost only a few pounds since my surgery. Today I was filled for the 3rd time. I now have 3.5 ccs. and I really hope it gives me a lot more restriction than before. I lost only 3 lbs in one month and have read so many of you losing so much weight much quicker. I am careful of what I eat and exercise and have even learned to cook better. I am not going to give up, but it is discouraging not losing weight like I have heard many of you have. I pray that I soon get restricted where I start losing a lot of weight soon. Best wishes to all of you for a successful journey.

I can relate! I was banded just one month before you . I posted several times on 2 different sites about how disappointed I was. Everyone seems to lose crazy weight in the first 6 months while Im sill at 22 lbs in nearly 5 months! My doc says not to worry. He says one pound a week should be my goal. Besides, there is nothing more I can do. I do very strenuous workouts for an hour 5 days a week and I eat fairly well. I also have had 3 fills but Im at 5.5 cc's. Your doc isnt filling you quite enough. I was where you are at 2 fills. I remember eating what I wanted most of the time. Now, that I have the 5.5 in there...I feel restriction! Am I losing weight quicker? NOPE! Its a very slow porcess for me...VERY! But I have no other choice. I guess I eat somewhere around 1000 cals and workout hard. You would think I would drop weight like crazy but Im not. I wear a size 14. I started at an 18. Dont get discouraged. Sometimes we just need to ride the wave. Eat as well as you can, work out and forget the rest. When reading about the lapband...professional sites say to expect 1-2 lbs a week and expect a full year in order to reach your goal wiehgt. With 52 weeks in a year ...thats about right. I know its painstakingly slow...I know! But you will get there. You need to be filled more. You will see a restriction difference then. Maybe the scale will move quicker and maybe it wont but at least you know you are doing your part. Please keep us posted!!!!

Thanks for the info. It really is discouraging when I read what others are losing and I'm not. I am naturally a depressed person anyway, trying to fight that as well and this doesn't make me feel any better. However, I really am not going to give up. I have come to far to give up this early. It really is a fight though. I am hoping that this fill works a little better. I have myself scheduled for another fill in 4 weeks. I am afraid that if I dont get good fills that before I go to the next fill, my band will stretch out. I am hoping for the best and trying to stay positive. Thanks so much for the encouraging words. I really, really appreciate it.

I have lost 35 pounds since I started in mid September with the liquid diet. I feel like it has gone painfully slow. One thing I find, that seems to be helping, is adding in more protein every which way I can. I have two friends who have had this done. One lost her weight crazy quick. She lost 100 pounds in 7 months. The other just reached his 1 year, 100 pound mark. He said it took several months before the fills got him to where he needed to be. He then started losing, but not really until then. Good luck and hopefully it speeds up for all of us! When I get discouraged, I think how wonderful it is not to be 325 anymore :-)

I know exactly how you are feeling!! I had my band surgery on Nov 30 - I had dropped 9 pounds during my week of liquid diet - I have lost a total of 20 pounds since Nov 23 - I just had my 2nd fill on Monday and can feel a lirttle difference - I am hoping that my next fill will get me to a greater restriction. Best of luck!!!!
