I know this will be one of those posts that ppl will be thinking TMI, but I don't know where else to go to. So here it is..I was banded 7/13 tues and I haven't gone to the bathroom yet. It's been 5 days, is this normal? Any suggestions on if I should take a stool softner or just wait it out a few more days.

Also off the subject of that Im starting to feel better and my hunger seems to be increasing..is it normal to feel hungry all the time? my doc has me on a full liquid diet so just cream of wheat, oatmeal, cottege cheese, pudding, yogurt, CIB's all that good stuff but the diet guidelines he has his patients follow is saying only have 1/2 cup cream of wheat, 4oz of yogurt ect. I dont have restriction yet, but it just doesnt seem to be enough. It's not just head hunger either, I wait it out, drink some fluids for a while see if the hunger pains go away and they're still there? any suggestions for this? I don't want to be eating more than he wants me to bc I don't want my stomach to stretch.

thanks for the help!

I would try eating some apple sauce. It seemed to be several days before I had a BM too. The stuff they knock you out with also slows down the bowls it takes a while for them to wake up.

I was also starving after surgery but I was on liquids for about 8 days after surgery. you might try eating more often. like every couple hours. make sure you still eat the small portions though.

Me too! I was so getting ready to post and ask the same question. I was banded on 7/14 and still have not "moved" yet either and am at this moment drinking some benefiber and hope that helps. Yikes!

It's totally normal. Unless you're experiencing discomfort, I wouldn't worry. A mild stool softener can't hurt, but chances are things aren't moving because your intake has been far less than before (and your bowel was cleaned out pretty well preop).

I'm having the same problem. I had to see to doctor because, this has been a continous problem for me and I'm 11 months post-op. He has recomended that I drink prune juice a couple times a week. Since I have had the surgery, I have a constant problem with Constipation. He thinks it all of the Protein that i have to eat.

It took me a good 6 months to have BM every day. You are so cleaned out prior to surgery, that you don't have that fullness you are so used to by the way we used to eat. Your body doesn't know how to react. Give it time. It will get back to normal eventually

I am around 2 1/2 weeks out, and I didn't have a BM for several days either, and when I finally did one day it was very loose more like diarrhea, but remember you are on a liquid diet, so I guess that was pretty normal, from the way my Dr. reacted at my 8 day post op check. Now as soon as I started eating regular food again I also started adding benefiber to my Protein shakes because I knew I was not eating enough Fiber, I was mostly eating meat, eggs. cheese, things to get the Protein in, yes I was also trying to eat fruit and veggies, but I know I am not eating enough of them to get all the Fiber I need and I don't want to be constipated.

As far as the hunger, it is called Bandster Hell because you are not getting any bennifit from the fills yet, just try to eat more often when you are really hungry an watch the choices you make and hopefully this time will pass soon because I an still in it myself:sad:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
