Stomach Irritation or Slippage??

Recommended Posts

I haven't had or needed a fill in over a year. Been doing just great!

However, I was put on antibiotics and motrin by the dentist. The antibiotics I could not cut, but the motrin I was able to cut to take them. First few days were fine. 2 Days ago, I took my antibiotic, and it must have gotten stuck. I threw up HARD. After that, I was ok. My stomach felt a little irritated, but nothing terrible. Yesterday, my stomach was even more irritated. I guess I tried to push it a little much, when I should have just stuck with liquids. TODAY, I can barely get liquids down. They stay in my pouch forever, and I can feel them gurgling as the little liquid I have taken in is slowly going down. My stomach hurts, too... like pressure from the liquids.

I AM going to see a doctor tomorrow (hoping they can get me in).

However, I just wondered if my stomach was severely irritated and swollen, or if I might have a slip? I am HUGELY fearful of having a slip. I really, really, really, do not want to loose my band. I have been doing SO WELL... it would be heartbreaking to have to have it removed!

That is good you are going to see the doctor. Sounds like it's probably just swelling, but I have no way of knowing for sure. Talk to your doctor.

Bumping... wanting some input.

I have been able to keep sips of Water down, but it still feels very tight and uncomfortable. FEELS like it wants to come up, but isn't actually coming up. PBing a bit, though. I am desperately hoping I just need an unfill!!!

Thanks!

Ashley,

I hope it is getting better. I just wanted to say that maybe it is irritation from the motrin? I was given a laundry list of meds not to take and first on the list is mortrin/ibuprophen. Aleve and naproxen was on there also. I would call your doctor and see if a small unfill will help. Good luck!

It IS getting better today, and I am glad!

I actually moved to another area since my surgery, but I haven't had to get a fill in over a year, so I didn't change surgeons. I called a surgeon, really THE surgeon, in the area, and they won't see me!! They need all my history from my previous surgeon, plus a barium test, whatever it's called. Even when they get all that, they have a meeting of the Doctors and Nurses in the practice, and decide collectively if they will take my case on.

Ugh! What if I actually had a REALLY BAD problem?

SO, I called MY surgeon, and they said it sounds like irritation. Told me to stay on warm, Clear Liquids for the next 2 days, then I'm going in at 9am Friday morning (I live 2 1/2 hours away, and I have training for work the next 2 days). She said it could get better by then, and I may NOT need an unfill, but I want to go ahead and get a little out anyway.

Thanks!

Ashley,

Glad to hear that. I know what you mean about the time to get to your doctors. Mine is almost three hours away. That time in the car for a fifteen minute appointment sucks. Good luck and keep us posted on it!

This is exactly what I went through recently. I didn't have slippage, just that the swelling was really bad, adn like you I could fill the liquids just sit there forever. Try some liquid benadryl and see if that helps till you can get in.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
