Protein shakes, Scrambled eggs and cottage cheese (chew them up good) I have never had an issue getting the Protein, you just have to avoid the carbs

Protein shakes definitely, but don't push yourself. Your body has enough Protein to last you awhile. Try to get as much as you can but it does get a lot easier once you get to eat mushies/normal food.< /span>

I'm drinking milk for the Protein, that way I don't have to have those shakes (I'm over them!) and it's something I like to drink. Hope this helps.

I was told 3 Protein Shakes a day (I am only able to get about 2 oz down at a time) and then for me the hard part is staying hydrated, I have been sipping on Water, SF popcicles, and chicken broth but i still feel like im not drinking enough. I had my surgery on 6/29 so I am hoping the Fluid intake will get a little easier. As far as the type of Protein Shake, I was told by the nutritionist to try Syntrax Nectar, its a whey Protein Isolate shake and has 23 grams of protein per scoop, so I am getting about 35 grams a day in my 3 shakes (i mix my powder w/milk for a little extra protein and it taste better than w/water)

:) I am drinking Isopure Zero Carb Protein, purchased at GNC. 50 Grams of protein per shake. I have only had one, since I have only been home less than 24 hours. It took me about 1 hour to get 12 oz down. Filled me up though the night. I bought Cookies and Cream, mix with Water, tastes OK , but think I will try milk next time!

Whey protien i use he chocole flavor it was all i could find. One cup is almost what you need for the daily protien and its not to bad of a taste. That and when i went to mushies alot off scrambled eggs and cottage cheese is what i have been living on and a protien drink for snack to make sure i am getting my protien in to. Good luck!

Protein shakes are recommended by my doc - 4 a day, to get Protein. They do let me substitute Carnation Instant Breakfast mix with fat free milk. I wasn't interested at first but I tried it this weekend and much prefer it over the Bariatric Protein Shakes I had for pre-op. I had surgery 6/24/10 - am finding the 2nd week much better than the first. Once I got on pureed it's been easier. Good luck - you are going to do great!!

PS - If you try Carnation, you have to get the blue box not the yellow - the blue is sugar free. :)

I suggest just following the post-op diet your surgeon gave you. Call the surgeon's office with any questions you have about the instructions he/she gave you. Hope that helps!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
