So, I am 3 weeks post op as of today. I am feeling Great!! I was sitting at computer and felt something wet on my shirt, thought I spilled some tea on myself. Changed shirt, came back and looked down....My shirt had a puddle of Fluid. Looked at my port incision.....and my port incision is leaking big time!!! I freaked out and called surgeon immediately....He knew exactly what I was talking about. I had to push out as much fluid as possible, he is calling in antibiotics in the morning and it will continue to seep fluid for the next 48 hours (need to keep it bandage). I am praying to God that I do not lose my band!!!!

I did that as well- my doctor just wanted me to check on my temp regurlarly and called in an antibiotic as well. It stopped after about a week each day kept being less and less. I had surgery April 30 and things have been fine.

I had surgery 3/15 and my incision still seeps Fluid. Then again, my Dr only glued mine shut, not sewed or stapled it, so it's takign forever to heal.

So sorry to hear that you are going through this! It sounds like your surgeon has dealt with it before...hopefully it will heal quickly and you can be off and loosing soon! And feeling better too! Good luck! Stay positive!!!!:tt1:

Sounds like a seroma--I didn't have it post-banding, but did post-c section. It was messy, but manageable, and really did not impede healing by very much. My doctor did ultimately prescribe an oral antibiotic prophylactically--but it was no biggie.

Just messy! (Instead of a dressing, I affixed sanitary napkins to my clothes; that way, there was a little more circulation around the site to prevent excoriation due to moisture being trapped, and the Fluid didn't leak onto my clothes. Weird, but my doctor thought it was a great idea, and it spared me a LOT of laundry. Serosanguinous Fluid usually washes out, but yuck.

The drainage tapered off gradually so that, after a couple of weeks, there was nothing going on at all, other than great wound healing :tt1:

Thanks Betsy....You nailed it, that was exactly what I had. It only drained that first day but kept bandage on for 2 days. I was also prescribed Bactrim (antibiotic). No leakage since Monday....

Thanks for everyone's comments!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
