Pain around my heart ~ under left breast

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I'm newly banded (5 days) and I'm still having some intense pain under my left breast...near my heart. I had a hiatal hernia repaired during banding surgery. I'm not sure if that has something to do with it or not. Its painful to take a deep breath. Is this normal? Any thoughts or ideas? I'm still on a lose dose of pain meds ~ but feel like I should be off of them by now. HELP!

I had the same pain, Are you wearing a bra, if so take it off....this is what was causing my pain and it had me in tears. I had my surgery June 21 with a haital hernia repair also.....Have you had a bowel movement, my doctor told me to take a laxative. I took the first thing I could get my hands on and that was milk of magnesium...lol...its what my mother in law had....I do have Miralax and have been drinking benefiber. A relief did come, but I am on a bra strike...

Hi!

The same feeling happened to me just short of 1 week post-surgery. It hurt so bad that I secretly thought I was having a heart attack. When I looked it up on the forums, everyone said 'Gas pains'- but I thought, "Gas couldn't possibly hurt this bad!!".

Long story short- my sister brought me over some Gas-x strips and the pain went completely away shortly after. Hope it's the same sort of thing for you!

Good luck! (and buy some Gas-x strips!)

Hi Fluffy,

I too had a hiatal hernia repair. We actually had 2 operations!!! I'm out 10 days & last night I had a lot of pain in the same area. Every breath was like a knife. I have had this off & on since surgery. even my shirt touching my incisions hurt.

Good Luck,

Thanks everyone!!! I tried some Gas X chewable tablets & it seems to be helping. Pain is still there, but less. I truly appreciate your replies...because I did think something was severly wrong!!!

You all helped me to sleep peacefully last night!

I had that same pain when I woke up from the surgery - I thought I was having a heart attack. But they sat me up partway and gave me something and it went away pretty quickly. Thank goodness it did not come back as that was pretty intense.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
