Oh lap-band, how I love thee!

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I had my lap-band in Nov 09... About 7 months ago. It has been the best thing I have ever done for myself. I am down about 100 lbs from my pre-op weight, and about 120 from my all time highest. I had a friend over the other day that I met recently, in the past couple weeks. They saw a family picture that I have in my living room and asked, "where are you in this picture?" I pointed myself out and their response was, "WHAT! That does not even look like you!" It is kind of funny to me because when I look at those old pictures, in my head that is still pretty much what I look like, but it was nice to see someones reaction who did not know me pre-op. Anyways, not to boast or anything, but I have worked really hard in the past seven months so I deserve to a little bit! Hehe.

Congratulations!! You've done so well on your journey. My journey is just beginning and I've been stuck in bandster hell for about a month... but I see a one pound loss this morning.... so my spirits are lifted.

You have done amazingly well. Good luck meeting your goal, and yes, it is nice to have a new friend remark about your old photos.

Thats awesome!!! Its does feel weird when looking at yourself in the mirror that you still see the old you when in fact people notice the subtle difference in you.

Way to go! BOAST AWAY! That is a HUGE accomplishment! I understand seeing yourself as the "old you". The girls at work have kept an old picture of me in a drawer and often pull it out to see the difference. I still feel like that girl in the old pic. At least my clothing size says otherwise!

One word, WOW!...

I was banded on Nov 17 '09 just like you. :) I have lost 92 lbs so far, almost to goal. And just like you, I still see the "old me" in the mirror.

The excess skin doesn't help either when I look in the mirror. I am hoping to have plastic surgery around my one year bandiversary.

Not sure if my head will ever catch up with my body. I guess that is what keeps us going and motivated.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
