  1. Hi all, Is it normal for a band to be tight in the mornings? I can only have liquids in the mornings or Soups. But around after lunch I can eat regular solids (slowly though). I used to be able to eat scrambled eggs but even cereals wont go down, I would vomit it all out. coffee or Soup is fine. I'm size size 38 Men's now though compared to 48 when I got banded last year...but my last fill really sped up my weight reduction. Wendy's chili is my go to fast food these days....i actually like it better that way...but when Im luck Im able to down some chicken nuggels...lol...

    Tight band in the mornings....

Ok great, at least I dont feel alone in this. I thought it might have been too tight. But I actually got used to it, and like you guys, I start off tight so I can only have liquids....but by late afternoon I can eat few solids. For the rest of the day I snack up on yogurt, Ensure, or anything easy to digest so I keep that satiety feeling. Thanks all and good luck with yours!!
  3. How's the post op!?

Is Anyone Else Tired All The Time?

I feel the same way. I take my multivitamins and protein shakes but Im a lot weaker than I used to. I lost 30lbs since my procedure so far. How's everyone else doing?
  5. I hear ya. I get those cravings too, but I fight it by drinking a Protein shake or if nothing is close by - Water. Cravings last for 15 min and it goes away....so try to fight it with water - works for me. I was banded 6/9/2010 and believe me, I want to cry when I think about hot wings - its worse when I smell it or see it...my coworker had it last week and he actually said "oh im sorry man!", and put his lunchbox in front of him so I cant see his food and started talking about something else - cravings are like an alcohol addiction and must be treated like so. But through discipline I've lost 25 lbs in 2 weeks postop. Its a constant battle and you have to switch your tactics. If you want fast food, get Pinto and cheese at Taco Bell, or small chili no cheese at Wendy's or Yogurt Parfait at McDonalds', and so on...You dont want to overstretch your pouch while healing due to slippage or whatever. Be strong - remember, cravings are 5-15 min long....think about something or drink water until full. You've come a long way to prepare yourself for a new life - be strong and dont look back!
  6. Hey all, I love my rice and at the same time, the bane of my weight problems. After the procedure, I wasnt allowed to eat bread, rice, and Pasta - since they expand with moisture - not to mention high carbs. I'm looking for something to substitute rice...and I was thinking about couscous...is this a good idea or am I out of luck? I'm 3 weeks postop close to 4 and Im still on pureed foods...today I brought my kids to a japanese restaurant (God, I miss sushi!), I had my usual miso Soup, but I got adventurous and order a baked black cod on miso and rice vinegar sauce - I passed on the cup of rice it came with and just worked on the fished...chewed the hell out of it and my kids were done while I ate mine for a good 30 minutes, lol...they were so annoyed at the slowness...but yeah, I miss the rice a lot...

    Mushies Stage Recipes

Yup....I tolerate spicy foods more than others...love hot and soup and same for thai Soups....eating one now...
  11. Just keep walking if youre ok. Your abdomen muscles needs to recover and repair itself. Walking and protein intake is very important in this period. One day you will just burp or fart and you WILL enjoy it....it will come.

    Sex after surgery?

My doctor told me whenever you're up to it. Listen to your body. There are some "benefits" to losing the weight. One major plus is that your drive is through the roof, and another added benefit for me is the noticeable "wider girth and darker shade" (not going into details here), I kinda got nervous at first and my doctor just kinda laughed and said thats because you have more blood rushing in there. So yeah, be patient and follow your instructions. good luck!

    Staple Foods

For me: refried Beans, salsa, cottage cheese, hummus, lentil soup, split pea soup, eggs, chicken, fish, potatoes (I mashed it with oil and vinegar with baked chicken - aka "pauper's food") , frozen yogurt, yogurt. I avoid: ice cream, fatty foods, steak, pork (on most occasions), BREAD, Pasta, RICE (im so sad about this) I used to like drinking unjury, now I feel like puking just smelling it....damn shame. Im gonna try Muscle Milk lite. I guess its all about mixing it up.

    Juarez MX info

You dont need a floro to fill. What they do at every "fill" is take out all the fluid out of the band and inject the right amount. This way there is no guessing in case they forget to record it. Floro is only used when looking for negative things like slippage or how much fluid is going through after a fill, but not necessary all the time.
  17. +1....Even if you gained some back, just remember that its easier to loose the weight now than before the procedure.....as for cravings, I get them too...but I DRINK Water to fill me up until mealtime to fend it off. It helps, trust me!

    My own food plan

Lentils and most beans are high source of proteins.

    1st visit didn't help

+1, I agree. I stayed on liquids for 1 week. It really differs from doctor to doctor, but the reason being is that your body is healing and Protein intake in liquid form is essential for the muscles repairing the damages done during the procedure. As for sweets, I had a soft serve one time, big deal, i must have had 4 tbsp of it before my body told me to stop, and I did without further cravings. If you needs sweets, make sure its no calories and no fat...and never force yourself, you'll just puke it out. Youre doing fine!
  20. Great info. I am 3 weeks post op and would like to start jogging but I get really tired quickly just by walking or even lifting very light items for short periods of time. I will wait until my body tells me its ok.
  21. Finally made my first Protein smoothie after getting tired of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury (for now). I made a 20oz drink which consist of: 16 oz Water 1 scoop Syntrax nectar 1 banana 1 light & fit yogurt a couple of ice cubes personal blender and done. Its actually pretty good, even my 5 and 6 year old loves the taste. You can barely taste that "proteiny" taste.

1 YEAR TODAY!!! See my stats

Congrats!! Keep up the good work!!
  23. I got two shots of heparin during my recovery right after surgery. Only thing that sucks is the black and blue bruise I got which is I still have. I'm on my 1st week postop.
  24. Nean - Thanks! The doctor assured it will be ok, but we all have different pain thresholds (and I like pain once in a while  - its a tattoo thang), so he told me its up to me if I can handle it. Just dont be on pain meds while driving . Fluffy- Yeah, flatulence is "evil" but it feels good. I used to get embarrassed but then I realized, wth, im in a bathroom and its my body, its anonymous and I just let it out without remorse...your body will thank you. Good luck!!!
  25. As soon as I walked in people were like, "good to have you back! Were you sick or something? You looked thin!" when I heard that, I knew I was doing something right. Even though the liquid stage is annoying its amazing how people notice the difference when I can't see it at all.
