After much craziness with my surgeon's staff I finally got a surgery date of 8/16.

I have to have a heart to heart with him to tell him my frustrations with them but barring any foolishness from him I hope

to be banded on the 16th. I've been going through this process since about 10/09.

I can't wait and will be needing you all for encouragement on my liquid diet and all the rest. I'm not as anxious about the pre-op liquid diet as I am about the dreaded bandster hell after the surgery.

That's me though always looking ahead to problems that have not yet realized

Hi everyone! My name is Marie and I am scheduled for August 25th. I really wanted the 23rd because that will be my 30th birthday, but it is also my surgeon's birthday and he wanted it off, lol. I have been working on this since April and I am so excited that that I finally have a date. I have very severe sleep apnea and until readign this thread didn't think about bringing my machine to the hospital. Glad I read that. We should develop a general list of things you *might* need to take.

I just went in for my pre-op appointment and I'm scheduled for August 2!!!! My liquid diet starts tomorrow and I'm so excited. I can't believe i only have 2 weeks left before I'm officially a Bandster.

Is anyone else more worried about the pre-op diet than the actual sugery? 2 weeks of Protein Shakes and Soup sounds HARD but I know I can do it. I'm just going to need ot get really creative with the drinks. My doctor gave us a bunch of recipes that sound yummy that I can't wait to try.

Good luck to you all. I'll post how surgery goes as soonj as I'm up to it since it looks like I'm the first for August.

5'5" initial weight was 246lbs current weight is 233lbs goal weight is 160lbs.

I just learned yesterday that my surgery date is 8/26. My process started in December. I had 6 months of diet monitoring, 2 sleep studies (I am using a cpap machine now), psych eval (3 visits), bloodwork, 2 support group sessions and my initial visit with my surgeon.

I have left to get a physical from my primary care physician, meet with my surgeon again and all of the pre-op "stuff".

I am slowly preparing myself for the liquid diet. It doesn't sound like a lot of fun, but I know it is part of the process. And to make the band work, I know I have to do everything the surgeon tells me to.

So we are all heading into the final stretch. I'm SO nervous about the liquid diet. I truly think I'm going to starve to death. I'm setting up another appointment with the dietitian before 8/9 so I can know exactly what I can and can't have

I agree with you, the liquid diet is what i am the most nervous about. My last appoint with the surgeon is on the 26th I am hoping he tells me i only have to do the diet for a week! I know i know wishful thinking!!!

Good luck:rolleyes:

Called insurance to check... again... and I'm APPROVED!!! They determined it is covered and that I meet all requirements!

So now just have to wait for Surgeon's office to call with the date! Should be in about 3-4 weeks!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
