  3. I'm now 3 weeks out from surgery and am feeling great. I lost 7 pounds in the first week but the scale has stalled there. My body is definitely changing though. I see differences in my neck/face, my tummy looks deflated, and my legs are slimmer. I've started working out on my treadmill which probably is adding muscle and negating the fat loss. Hope all the August Rushers are also successful! :cursing:
  4. I'm banded! Trying to take it easy, feeling pretty good all things considered. Good luck to those still waiting!
  5. Congrats Kelly! Try to take it easy.
  6. Hey everyone! I'm scheduled for August 9th. I have a pre-op phone conference scheduled for 10am tomorrow w/ my scheduler. I know from my info packet that I will be on a 870 calorie diet for the next week. Bariatric Advantage shakes and one small meal. Good luck to everyone being banded this week! My immediate family knows but I haven't told anyone else. I probably will once I start losing weight if they ask but I'm not volunteering the info.
  7. I haven't read this whole thread but I have a surgery date of 8/9/10. I have an appt with my pcp to get labs and an EKG ordered tomorrow. :tt2:
  8. I live less than 5 miles South of the US/Canadian border in NW Washington. Blaine is a very small town with a lot of traffic coming and going. My house is in a little subdivision outside the city limits but not quite out in the country about half way between Blaine and Birch Bay which is a sleepy little community that only hustles and bustles with tourists in the summer time. Stores and services are limited in the immediate area but Bellingham has it all and is only 25 or so miles away. We have all four seasons, summers are almost too hot and winters are perfect. At least for me, I was born and raised in Anchorage, AK.
  9. Hi, I am just beginning my journey and would love to have a Buddy/mentor to chat with. I have my nurse, surgeon, & psych consults all scheduled on June 4th. (I live 70 miles from my chosen surgery center.) I'm 99.9% sure once they submit for insurance approval I'll be told I need a 6 mo medically supervised diet, so that puts me having surgery in early 2011. I'm a married SAHM with four kids. I live in NW Washington State, will be banded in Everett. I am 5' currently weigh about 225. Looking to lose 100lbs. Thanks!
  10. Hello and welcome! I'm new too, just began my journey last night by attending a seminar. Hoping to sail through my insurance hoops and be banded soon. Good luck to you! Sarah
  11. My insurance is through UHC. I don't have a specific Dr for the procedure yet. I have chosen to be banded over gastric bypass for a lot of reasons. It being less invasive, having a shorter recovery time, being adjustable and even reversible being at the top of the list. Sarah
  12. Hi I'm Sarah. I am just starting the process of getting lap-banded. I am scheduled to attend a seminar put on by the Northwest Weight Loss Center. I know I have some hoops to jump through for my insurance but I am excited. (My husband had gastric bypass done on March 5th, it took a little over a year from when he first started the process to finally get approval and a date. He's already down 80+ lbs since late January.) We have been married 13 years and have four kids ages 12, 9, 3 & 3. Looking forward to getting to know you all and learning from your experiences. :scared2:
