Any July Bandsters??

I got my surgery date booked for July 2nd and so far everything looks good (crossing fingers...). What about you guys, anybody else getting banded this coming July?

Right now I'm busy soaking up information and I came across some great blogs of people I could relate to. Thanks to them and to the nice people on this forum, while I'm still a little apprehensive I now have a much better understanding of the journey that awaits me. Not to mention some great tricks and recipes! I have some unused vacation time that I'll be taking after the surgery, it should make for an interesting summer!

Keep in touch!

Peace : )

My surgery date is now a little more than two weeks away (July 15!!) and I haven't been told to start a pre-op liquid diet yet. I have an appt. with the doctor's office on July 1, so I'm wondering if that's when they'll tell me to start it.

For you folks with upcoming surgeries in the next couple of weeks, can you tell me:

1. Were you told you HAD to be on a pre-op liquid diet?

2. What does the diet consist of? HMR? protein shakes?

I'm confused confused.gif

Thanks, guys!

Hi there, My surgery date is July 13th and I started my preop diet on June 29th (yesterday) my diet consists of protein shake in the morning and for lunch and a frozen dinner (ww,healthy choice, etc) for dinner. My doc starts this two weeks before surgery. From everything I have read each doc is different even the doc I go to has different preop diets depending on the individual. I am sure you will have more answers when you see you doctor on July 1st. Good luck!!

I got APPROVED today, I will find out my surgery date tomorrow and I have to start my liquid diet soon. I am so excited I can't control myself..lol... :)

YEA YEA YEA!!!!!! I So can relate to the excitement you must be feeling!!!! Good luck!!

Hi everybody July is here, good luck to us all and God bless.

Me, Me, Me....I'm a July Bandster! Yea!:) July 19 is the day....can't wait to start everything. I start pre-op diet on July 5. All protein supplements purchased from my doc's office in the form of oatmeal, soups, shakes, puddings, bars, etc...His patients must follow this diet for 1-4 weeks before surgery. He said since implementing this diet, he has never had to convert to an "open" surgery. Sounds good to me! I know it will be hard, but I'm looking forward to dropping a few lbs. and getting that "loose pants" feeling  Hopefully much more of that to follow! Good luck to all!

Hi Everyone. New to this forum. I am getting my surgery on July 8. I was approved by my insurance, but found out it is still going to cost me about $3800. I pay 15% of the contracted rate and I was not expecting that and the hospital wants their money up front. Does anyone else have this problem?

Yes - I still have to pay 20% of the costs, plus a $500 deductible - it will costs me about $2400 out of pocket for and "insurance approved" surgery. Much better than paying for the whole thing though! Heck I spent more than that on my elliptical machine :)

Hi, July 7th for me:thumbup: Good luck to everyone

I have actually gotten approved and I start my pre-op diet tomorrow... My surgery is scheduled for July 16th at 10:30am. Totally freaking out now.....

My Pre-op doesnt really seem that bad. Liquids for breakfast and lunch ( 2 protein shakes a day) and a frozen dinner or lean meat and all the veggies i want...And my snacks are juice...yogurt...unsalted mixed nuts...100 cal kettle corn....cheese cubes anf fruit...

wish me luck

Just got my approval on Tuesday and found out my surg. date will be July 26th!

Nervous, excited, etc.

More kind of scared about the actual surgery than the recovery and diet after. Started preop diet on Sunday.

July 21. Starting the pre-op diet on July 7, and not looking forward to it haha.

Started my pre-op diet today and it SUCKS but it has to be done!

Started my pre-op diet today and it SUCKS but it has to be done!

My surgery is July 15th!

I started my preop on the 29th, my sugery is July 13th. I am having a hard time with it too. Today is Day three and that is supposed to be the worst, ugh, I sure hope so.

Oh BOOHOO for me:sad:, my surgery date has been moved back from 7/28 to the following week 8/4. My pre-op is sill on 7/6, but I'm really not even approved yet.

So keep your fingers crossed for me.:)

My surgery is July 8th and I am getting very nervous but excited. My doctor only requires a 3 day liquid diet that I will be starting on July 5th. I guess 3 days will be a lot easier than other preop diets I hear everyone talking about that lasts for 2-3 weeks. I guess every doctor is different. I need to buy some premixed protein drinks. Any suggestions on some that taste good? My other things I can drink/eat are sugar free jello, popsicles, and soup broth. Sounds yummy :tt1:

i'm july 26th can not wait i've been bugging my co-worker who already had hers done in nov 2009.
