Good for you, Kkrc! Good luck with your surgery!

I'm on Day 6 now of my pre-op, and other than passing moments am doing well. It makes it easier in some ways to not have choices.

Some things that helped me:

Read the site, especially the inspirational stories

Call friends for motivation

Distract yourself

Pray/meditate if you are a person who prays or meditates

Keep posting on here!

You CAN do this and you are SO close. I was tempted beyond belief, and I wasn't 100% perfect, but I'm so glad I made it through the pre-op diet. It's a test, for sure, but believe me when I say it's worth it. I'm 5 days out from surgery, and just so glad to have made this choice.

I'm rooting for you! Good job on making it this far, you're almost there!

Two and a half days indeed! You can put up with anything for two and a half days!

I am fine now, still healing and getting better every day. Today was my first day back at work (desk job) and so I'm a bit tired, but otherwise good.

At least for now, I wouldn't consider myself "fasting" at all - really it's the opposite feeling, you have to remember to keep drinking and you have to push just to get the required Protein in you. So it's a totally different proposition, but I'll take this any day over the pre-op diet. That is tough.

Once the swelling goes down completely and I enter the so-called "bandster Hell", I'm sure it might be a different story. But for now my diet is essentially the same as yours, only I have the band and a stomach that fills very quickly.

And you will too, very, very soon!

i am now 7 days into the 14 day Opti-Fast pre-op diet - climbing the walls a bit,jus want to have something other than lettuce  what abotu that Opti-Fast, a bit ordinary to taste.

BUT all good, operation is June 2 and looking forward to it hopefully I am like most who have posted on this site and will find pre-op the toughest stage of all.

Well, I went into surgery for the band, but came out not banded because of a huge hiatal hernia. My doctor said a band is not an option for me. Needless to say, I spent yesterday very disappointed.

Today, however, I am feeling better and have been researching the possibilities other than the band. So far the one that looks the best would be a gastric sleeve as it doesn't rearrange my plumbing.

At any rate, I see my doctor next Tuesday. I'll certainly be having lots of questions to ask him!

Sorry to hear that AnneGG. I've heard some "big name" people that have gotten the sleeve and wonder if it is a better option but since it is more expensive, not as popular? I'm sure it will work out though!

I got my band on Friday the 28th! Checked in at 11:00am, surgery at 12:00pm and left at 2:45pm. I found out that I had a hiatal hernia. He showed me the pictures of it before and after pictures of after he stitched it up. Also the before and after pictures of the band in place. Pretty cool technology to have such clear pictures. Overall I feel pretty good with the worst times being when I wake up and feel sore and achey as the innards shift to upright.

Fortunately I have been able to burp to re-leave some of the gas as I could feel it in my left shoulder. I have experienced this pain before albeit in my right shoulder. I'm not sure if anyone else has ever experienced this but sometimes when I take a big yawn, I would get a pain in my stomach/diaphragm and right shoulder as though I had air trapped or my diaphragm was out of sync. Not sure how to explain it. But I was able to "suck in" a gulp of air and burp it back up to relieve the pressure and take care of the pain. This is the same sensation and the same solution works for me. It is not something I recommend for anyone to try though. Anyways it may be of help to anyone that has experienced it.

Hope all the other May Banders are doing well! Stay focused June Banders, your time is just around the corner.

Remember, we can all be losers and winners!:cursing:

Anne, sorry to hear about your hiatal hernia, but a) that's good that you got that taken care of, and :cursing: you have a great attitude about it and I'm sure you'll succeed with an alternative.

And speaking of alternatives, I admit that I don't know much about the sleeve, but I have heard from at least one of my doctors how that is the procedure that will be most employed in coming years. I might have had it myself but I live in MA where it is not covered by insurance yet.

Things happen for a reason, and it sounds like you had the most pressing issue taken care of first, and that you are still in line for weight-loss surgery, so I look forward to hearing about that!

Congrats to WaitLoser as well! That was a quick in-and-out, I was in the hospital overnight (per some sort of health insurance or hospital guideline) and I was actually glad to be there for the first night after surgery just to have nurses around. Was definitely ready to go a couple hours before they actually did let me go, though....

acp and WaitLoser, and everyone else, thanks for your support!

I know my doctor and I will come up with a workable alternative, and I know it won't be RNY. I would rather keep going on my own than do that. Which pretty much leaves the sleeve. I so hope my doc agrees.

I'm going to miss this board!

I am on day 6 of Bariatric Advantage... it's not easy for sure although I am allowed the s/f pops, and severa beverages. I did cave in at the family bbq today and have a buger (no bun). It's dinner time that kills me, I can smell the food and it drives me crazy.

Back on track tomorrow and looking forward to my surgery

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
