? for Bandsters that have fills under fluoro

Recommended Posts

Quick question for those of you that have your fills done under fluoro. Do you find that you get right to the sweet spot due to the fact the doc can 'see' restriction real time or are you still needing to come in for fills?

I am trying to figure out when the heck these fills will stick for awhile. Just had one on Thursday and called again for another appointment because I feel like nothing was done!!! I'm almost half way to capacity, so I'm wondering why I'm not feeling 'real' restriction when my doc can see it!

I hear you! :tt1: I have had 4 fills, all under fluoro. I really think it is according to how aggressive your doc is with the fills. I am at 5.2 in a 10cc band. Very frustrated with the last fill, only 0.2cc, WTH! That did absolutely nothing for my restriction. I should have turned the car around that day and went in for another fill.

It's weird. He says that it's nice and restricted, things are moving down slowly, blah blah blah. So why am I ravenous after 8 ounces of food and sitting there doing anything I can to take my mind off of eating any more for two more hours? I thought the advantage to fluoro was to get restriction immediately because you're able to see that you're filled right to where you need to be.

I am sure he is going to tell me it's all in my head when I go back. Of course my appointment is for the week I should be getting my period too. Should make for an interesting experience LOL

Hello. I have had three fills , I am a little behind on fills because broke leg, but all my fills are under fluoro. My understanding and my dr lets me watch the screen. swallow contrast - see go thru - adds fill amt - swallow and sees go thru - continues until Fluid does not go thru and then removes say 1/2 cc and done. I am still not at my "sweet spot". not near - going in a few wks for another. Friend of mine who has had band surg says hang in there it will come. Fluoro just helps put max in at that time, w/o too much to close it off. When fill u also get swelling , i am on liq rest of day and mushy food next. After third fill I could feel tightness 3 wks later which i guess is to also be expected. but now i can eat a lot more than what i am supposed to be. Frustrating. Let me know how u are doing . Michelle

Fluro is not to get you to restriction as fast as you can. It is to double check the flow and placement of the band. My Dr. is very careful with fills I am 9 months out and 64lbs down and only 3.5 cc in a 10 cc AP band.

OMG YES! My doc's office won't do fills unless under floro (PITA b/c the P.A.s can do fewer fills per day thus, harder to get a fill appt.) THey keep telling me "Look! You have restriction! See, its smaller than last time!" And I keep telling them that I don't care what the x-ray says, I have no restriction. I can easily eat a cup of full Protein (even dry meat) at one sitting in 10 minutes and be hungry less than 3 hours later.

They want to rely on the machine instead of listening to the patient. Yet another problem with today's health care system!

I have 6.25 cc in my 10 cc band and it has taken me FIVE FILLS to get to this point because they see restriction and don't want to 'over fill' me. I've never been stuck, PB'd, slimed, nothing. It is so very frustrating!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
