Had Lap Band put in yesterday with a 4ml fill??

Recommended Posts

I was told over and over again that when the band is put in it would be empty until your first fill (4-6 weeks).

Come to find out when I wake up is that the surgeon put 4cc in a 10cc band!

Has anybody else had the same?

Well I cant say the surgeon told me empty but it was implied! When they brought me my paperwork I see right on the box of my band that I had a prefill of 2cc! Of course I didn't object but I like to be aware of these things...

well they can't put it in empty they have to add some Fluid to prime the tubing so to speak otherwise when they only did those little 1cc fills it would just go into the tuning that connects the port to the band. I don't think that would require 4cc, but hey maybe this way you can avoid STARVING while you have to be on liquids post op

I left with 4cc's in my band too! When I asked my Dr. about this he said that there is a small percentage of people that leave with 3cc's or more. He also said that many of these "3cc's and up" people don't carry their weight in or around their stomach region. I was banded on Nov 01, 2009 (37 BMI) and I'm at 7.5 cc's right now, in a 10cc band....just starting to feel restriction. Good Luck on your Journey!

My band was placed with 4cc in it. I never went through true bandster hell. Don't get me wrong---I was hungry. But I didn't have the feeling that nothing was there.

I had my first fill at 6 weeks and have had two more.

I am at 6.25cc in a 10cc band and I think I am getting close to my sweet spot.

Consider it a blessing!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
