Just got my band on 3-23!!

Hey everyone,

So i just got my lap band on March 23 2010 and i have already lost 9lbs. An that is totally exciting!!! But my name is Ally and I'm 23, i am young and ready to exercise an get this weight off!!

My belly is still kinda swollen an sore, an the meds make me really tired which ha i really don't mind hehe.

But i am finding it really hard to drink the amount of fluids they want me to in a day. So maybe this chat group will help me understand if that is good and or bad.

If anyone has any questions for me you an AIM me im on there most of the time chevygirl8T8 or you can email me on here.

Thanks

Ally

Hey there, i got banded the same day:biggrin:. Was feeling great yesterday but today having all kinds of gas pains in my stomach. Not sure if its from the co2 or the antibiotic i received. I to am having a hard time getting the liquids in. Hang in there we will get through this:thumbup:

HI!!

I was banded on 3/5/10!! It will get better, I had trouble getting enough Water intake also. Just keep at it, the gas is still there but sooo worth it! Just don't over do it, rest when you have to. I have my achy moments too (one right now matter of fact), but the doc said on my follow-up that it'll ease up in a couple weeks. With the results I'm expecting, it'll all be worth it!

Congrats on your band! Sounds like you're doing well.

I was banded on 3/22 and today was my first day back to work!

OK - gas pains are KILLING me. My shoulder is SO sore and I feel like I keep getting gas in and out of my stomach. It hurts. I've been walking and I still have that pain. :)

:thumbup:Hey! Hang in there girl! I was banded on 3/16 and I still have a lil bit of trouble getting all my liquids in and o my the gas pains are ridiculous but walk and sleep as much as you can. I still get really tired and take a couple lil naps during the day. lol Good luck girl and congrats on your loss so far! Just think of the much more loss that is to come.

hi! my name is Doreen and I recieved my lap-band on mar. 3rd, 2010!

On Feb. 11th, 2010 during a pre-opt appointment I weighed 285lbs, day of surgery I was 278lbs, today I weigh 261lbs!!

I think thats Awesome!

but the good doctor says that is NOT the norm for lap-band patients and to expect weight-loss to slow down to 1-2lbs a week?!

Awwww that SUX!

I so wish I will keep up this stellar loss rate!

but I know as I increase 'solids' I may slow down BUT by that time I will be increasing exercise in the next week or two SO I think I should lose accordingly!

we will see... so far right now as it stands I have had no problems following the 'liquid diet' and have added soft foods easily...

well congrats n good luck!

(now if I could just figure how to ADD the 'Weight-Ticker' calculator thingy to my profile/posts!?! lol :-)

ha im not sure if this is the right box to get back to all you guys but THANKS so much for getting back to me! I love all the advice i can get. The gas pains in my shoulders were wicked last night ...im ready for the day when that goes away. hehe...now when did everyone start walkin? I know im not ready now because my belly still hurts but i want to start soon!!

Ally4 I started walking right away. Even if it was just around the house a little bit at a time while I was awake. Today is day 3 days post op and I got on the treadmill for about 5 min each time. They could not stress the walking enough during my pre op. So try walking even if it is uncomfortable. Just go slowly.

That's what the meds are there for!! If ya need 'em...take 'em! I know when I get home from work tonite, I'm gonna have a bit ( sorta gassy and achy tonite)!

Hi Ally. Congratulations on your surgery and your weightloss already.

You will find it pretty hard to get all of your liquids in until your swelling goes down which is about 1-2 weeks. Just do your best to get them in. It sometimes helps if you set a timer for 15 minutes. In that time you should have drank a shot glass of Fluid. You can also use sugar free Ice pops as your fluid too. It also helps with the swelling. Not to mention they are YUMMY. I happen to live on them.

Just so you know and everyone else that has replied, everyone's weightloss is different. You can not judge yourself by someone else. I am 5 months in and have lost 72lbs. At first my weightloss was faster but now it has slowed down to 1-2 lbs a week. But that's great. And I feel great.

It's amazing what you start realizing once you lose the weight. You miss the smaller things in life such as being able to cross your legs, tie your shoe laces in the middle of your shoe instead of on the side, being able bend over without your insides getting mushed inside of you because your pants are too tight, being able to walk longer distances without getting winded.

I have one piece of advice for everyone. As your move along in your journey, listen to your body. Don't push yourself too hard. And remember as you progress into the different stages in foods, to chew your food. Be aware of your old habits and try your best not to fall into them again.

I wish all of the new banders much luck. And Congratulations to all of you. :tt1:
