I have not lost weight in at least 6 months! Please HELP!!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I don't know what to do! I have been getting my fills fairly regularly, but haven't lost any weight in about 6 months. I can't eat any bread, rice, or Pasta. I try to get as much Protein as possible, and veggies. I also have a bad sweet tooth, that's probably my problem. I'm trying to figure out if I need to just cut my carbs or try weight watchers... I don't know what to do.

I've been PB'ing a lot lately, so much so that I'm getting sore throats. Going in for a slight unfill on Wednesday.

I started working out with a trainer a few weeks ago and have actually gained 2 lbs since then. Working out for an hour a day 5 days a week.

I'm around 7 or 8ccs in a 10cc band. It's just so frustrating to not be able to eat half the time, and be working out so hard to not see any results other than the scale going UP. I really haven't seen the "sweet spot"... I lost most of my weight post op on liquids and that seems to be when I lose, the liquid phase right after a fill, but when I start eating, the losing stops!!

Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Have you measured yourself? If you are controlling the calories and working out, you may have gained some muscle. You may also be retaining Water. That is usually what happens when I gain a couple pounds overnight. You have to have some carbs. Having too few calories is just as bad as having too many.

The good news is that you are doing alot of things right. The exercise you're getting is great. I think the unfill will help. Right now, you probably eating too many sweets because as we all know, sugar goes down without a problem. I was too tight for a month and I found myself afraid to eat anything besides chili, chocolate and ice cream. What I would try, is once you have your unfill, do the liquids for a day or 2 and then try to eat as healthy as possible until you're back on track. I not really into depriving myself, but if I eat sweets today, I just want more of them tomorrow. If you get those bad carbs out of your system, I think it might just break your plateau.

Thanks everybody! I really have a horrible sweet tooth and crave snack foods. I think if I can give them up, that would make a huge difference. Guess I'll have to give it up just like I did smoking almost 4 years ago... cold turkey. LOL Whenever I "dieted" before, I was most successful when I was seriously doing the Low-carb thing, but once you start eating them again, the weight comes back on. I know I'm whining, but I gave up bread/rice/pasta, I don't really want to have to give up chocolate too. LOL

You and I are kindered spirits; I too LOVE sweets. I could live on Cookies, and cake. Don't give up. I give in to a guilty pleasure every now-and-again. When I do I make sure it is the very best of the best. Gourmet all the way! I tried to kick the habit, but I am an addict for life; since I know that I just changed my game plan. 'Cookies are sometimes food'

Like everyone else said you are doing everything right. Our bodies don't always do what we want when we want them to do it. Keep up with the trainer and in the long run you will feel better about your successes. And if you MUST have that brownie make sure it is the best darn brownie in the world.

You don`t necessarily have to give up chocolate but may be you need to monitor the intake. You appear to be doing all the right things though apart from the "sweet" issue. Hang in there, hon.

Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. I recently joined my fitness pal and am actually recording what I eat. I was surprised at the amount of junk I've been stuffing in my face. So, hopefully that will help me be more accountable. I know yesterday when I was tempted by the Reese's cups at the office, I didn't want to have to put them on my journal for the day and waste those calories/sugar/fat, so I just didn't eat them. LOL And it was great to add in calories burned at the gym.

I also decided to forego the unfill as I haven't pb'd in over a week, since before I made my appt. I got out my little tiny fork last night and am going back to basics. Teeny tiny bites and chewing very well. I figure I've got great restriction right now, I might as well use it for all it's worth. This is what we all dream of, right?

So, now I'm exercising at the gym 5 days a week for at least an hour, watching what I eat and logging it so I know exactly what I'm putting in my mouth, focussing on being a good bandster as far as not overdoing it, and working on getting my Water. Hopefully that will be the right combination. And if I really want that chocolate, it will be an occasional treat, not a daily thing, and I will have to go out and get it b/c it won't be in the house and it will be decadent and satisfying.

My sweet fix is one dark hershey kiss in the evening. It works well for me. I use Loseit and I agree. It keeps me from eating sometimes. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
