Waiting to be banded

Recommended Posts

I'm being banded May 25th and am very excited about my new life.

Can someone tell me how long to recovery? I'm assuming the most pain will be from the C02 used to inflat the abdomen region during surgery and once that leaves the body I should feel like I've been punched which should dissapear in about a week. Am I correct?:smile2:

I was banded 10/20/09 (Tuesday) and had no problems at all. I was able to walk within an hour of waking up from surgery and I was on my way home 2 hours later. I had some soreness but nothing major. I went back to working Thursday, however my job is not that physically taxing. I had shoulder pain from the gas but nothing to worry about. I took the pain meds on Tuesday and Wednesday every 6 hours then I only took it Friday and Saturday about an hour before I went to bed to help me get to sleep. Then smooth sailing every since. (mostly :smile2:)

I'm a little worried about the pain in the shoulder and at the port site, my doctor said thats where most my pain will be after surgery..is it reallllly bad? I have a very high tolerance for pain..so hoping I will be ok!

No I didn't think it was bad at all. My shoulder was like an ear each and the port site didn't hurt at all it was just itchy.

Luckily I didnh't have the gas pain in the shoulder. My tummy was painful at first until they let me up to walk, but then that's pretty much all I did. I had to stay overnight and I walked every 30 mins or so because I was bored and I felt relatively good.

My port was really sore for the first 2 or 3 days. Felt like it was pulling every time I got up when I still had the big bandages on it. Then after I got to take the main dressings off it was so much better. Not as heavy I guessed, making it not pull down as much. I couldn't sleep on my side for around a week because of the uncomfortableness but pain wise I was good within a week.

I had surgery on Wednesday and went back to work the following Tuesday. I could have made it back Monday pain-wise, but I was super tired because I hadn't been able to sleep on Sunday night due to being uncomfortable in bed. Tuesday was a rough day at work and by the end of it I was pretty tired. The worst was sitting upright in my work chair!! Put some major pressure on my port!

Congrats on your journey!! :wink2:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
