Contact info for ANY Canadian or close to Canada Doctors

Recommended Posts

Right now I do not have a band. I was banded in Korea, had band erosion and had my band removed. In 3 months I will be getting a new band. In one month I will be traveling to Canada and I plan at that time to try to find a doctor in Canada who will accept me as a patient for fills for future references.

I was wondering if any Canadians or close to the border Americans can give me their doctors phone numbers so I can call and see if they would accept me as a patient.

I am not sure what band I am getting next maybe ap-s or the midband so finding a doctor who will only accept me if I have one or the other band might affect my decision in what band to get.

Any help would be great.

Canada is a BIG country. You are going to have to narrow down where you are going.

Overall you may have trouble finding a doctor for fills only as lapbands tend to get sold in a package deal of band and support services. We tend to get unlimited fills and unfills as a part of our package deal. There is no harm in trying though, I admit.

I put an emphasis on ANY doctors in Canada as anywhere in Canada would be a lot closer then me going to Korea every time I need a fill.

I will be living in Ontario but if I have to travel to get a fill I don't mind. There must be a doctor somewhere that would take me.

Ontario... I can work with that. The biggest clinic in Ontario is the Surgical Weight Loss Centre in Mississauga and it has a very good reputation. It's probably your best bet because of its size.

LAP-BAND®® Surgery Clinic | Weight Loss & Gastric Balloon in Toronto, Canada

I go to CIBO in Toronto. Overall I give it a meh. I am not terribly disappointed but I'm not stunningly thrilled. LAP-BAND® Surgery Weight Loss Surgery Clinic Toronto | CIBO

There are two other clinics in Toronto. Nobody I know has gone to the Yorkville one downtown and I haven't heard anything good about Slimband. Laparoscopic Band Surgery – (Gastric Band – Slimband) Again though, if you're just looking for fills you may have different priorities.

There are a lot of banded patients in Canada that no longer have a contact to have their band adjusted (fills / defills). If you are one of them, please reach out to me - I may be able to help. ;)

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
