Re: "Inverted T" abdominoplasty

Hello everybody. And a jolly good day to you all.

OK, so where are we in the saga of the emerging extension? The builders, bless their little cotton socks, are making progress and have now managed to remove the outbuildings, the garden gate, the garden fence, the concrete hard standing at the back of the house and the steps to the kitchen, which now means that you need ten league boots to get fromthe garden into the kitchen. The kids and dogs are very interested in all the kuffuffle and do just about anything to get out there and have a jolly good nose around - my main purpose in life at the moment is ensuring that their plans so to do are foiled. Evil laugh!!!!

We have just returned from our second walkies of the day (actually it was a bit high speed and was more of a runny than a walkie). They are getting to like all this extra social interaction although it hasn't taught Kenya any more manners.

She does love to be let off the lead but she is so fast that I always worry that she might just take off and, even though I run, I might not be able to reach her before she gets herself into trouble or frightens the living daylights out of some poor unsuspecting pedestrian.

The problem is that she is a bit like a cross between a racing car and a rhinocerous - or possibly a Bugatti and a bulldozer. She is so heavy and moves so fast that she just knocks my legs out from under me on a regular basis. It's all joie de vivre and there is absolutely no malice - but there is no brain either!!! It's a problem. She comes charging up to me, full of love and excitement and just cannot contain herself, which results in muddy footprints all over the legs of the lucky recipient of her affection (usually me) in a best case scenario and a muddy seat to my pants and a few bruises in less favourable situations. Ah well, the course of true love never did run smooth.

Well, I digress! The reason for posting is to let you all know that I am due to see my plastic surgeon this afternoon, as intimated in earlier posts and I am hopeful that she will permit me to indulge in a little running again - that'll exhaust my crazy dogs!

I will post an update photo later along with news of what Ms Serra says. Please keep fingers, toes, legs, eyes and anything else you can manage crossed for me.

Well, guys and gals, it was OK, but not fantastic. I had to have a couple of the supposedly dissolving stitches removed cos they weren't dissolving (huh?) and I can't go running for another 2 weeks:mad2:.

However, the good news is that I have an appointment to go in and talk about having my arms done in 4 months time!

A bit of half and half news is that yes, I can see the before photos (in 4 months time) but I can't have copies. I think that is a bit of a cheek cos its my body and I retain copyright of all images of me!!! Mind you, I won't be taking it to court. Bummer though - I wont be able to post before photos for everyone to exclaim over! Disappointing!

I think I may be getting addicted to these smilies. I wonder if there is a centre for smiley addiction treatment? Maybe I should open one - it could be a unique service to offer.

Could you possibly take a digicam and take a picture of a picture? It's so wrong they won't allow you to have them (why they are unable to even email you a pic I dont know - ridiculous)

Talking about having your arms done is a positive thing

Huggers

(is there a quick way to do these smileys without editing)

Becci, sorry you can't run for 2 more weeks, but I am glad Ms Serra took those stubborn stitches out.

Keep up the good work riding herd on all living things, LOL!!!! Sorry you can't get pictures, that sucks.

Yeah, life's a b*tch! What're ya gonna do?

Just to let you know, the numbness seems to be wearing off too, and the support garmnet - well, I tried not wearing it yesterday and, err, I wouldn't recommend it.

Wear the support garment folks - it aint sexy and it aint cool but it is functional and the newly tightened tummy muscles need it - so I guess I'm really not ready to run yet. Heavy sigh! Still am disappointed, though!

We had a slight disaster in the extension - they haven't dug up a dead body or anything but they have uncovered a mains sewer whch shouldn't be there and we aren't allowed to build normal foundations for the extension. The boss man came to visit and told me that they are going to build a raft - I told him that as far as I am concerned they could build the Queen Mary out there so long as I get my extension. The cost will be a bout £5000 more (which is about $10 000, I think, or thereabouts) but such is life.

I told an email buddy about this and she intimated that if this type of foundation is used on a terraced house the whole terrace can seesaw, so as one end subsides the other end rises into the air. :wink2:

(Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!)

Well, we are semi-detached so I pray that we don't get subsidence or the builder's Mum, who lives next door, could find herself needing a parachute to get out of her front door.

Well, hello there, And apologies for my absence (I do have an excuse note). Life has been ongoing and has rather overtaken my need to post.

Anyway, I have to admit that a lot has been taking place but the reason I am back online posting on this thread is that I have to let you know that, here I am, six weeks post op and there are still consequences to overdoing it.

I have the green light to going running next Friday – seven days from today I shall be out there endangering the safe paving policy of our local council. Owever, I decided that, as all my scabs had healed and dropped of (it’s rarely a good thing when things drop off) err, as things were healed up I decided I wouldjump the gun and ttake my teeny tiny terrorists swimming!

Bad call guys! Not a good idea. This was a thoroughly unproductive activity and I had to leave my poor husband with the boys while I went and showered and changed a quarter of an hour before everyone else. I was in PAIN! Dear LORD! I was in pain. I only did a couple of lengths – just to warm myself up, but boy oh boy did I suffer.

Guys (and gals) I hit the wall. Next week I have the all clear – I should have waited for it. I thought that standing around in cold Water was no big deal – well, I should have though harder. DON’T DO IT GUYS. FOLLOW YOUR SURGEONS INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER.

Having said that, after I was showered and changed and was waiting for the rest of us to get out of the pool I checked out the flyer rack and I found a flyer for a race in exactly 4 weeks. 10k – no biggy – so am no brow beating my poor hubby (that’s what we call husbands in the UK – affectionate term). Am certain I can make it 3 weeks "post surgeon OK" but can my poor husband? It would be good for him to try and I am sure he can do it with a little extra love from me. But can I, 3 weeks post surgical running OK?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
