12-24 Months, then hunger returns?

Recommended Posts

Um...what now?

I was in my third support group meeting last night and heard someone speak about the 12-24 months you have to create a new mindset. Then the guest speaker got up, had surgery 3 years ago, and said that NOW is when the real battle begins because, as was stated before, the 12-24 month period was over and the hunger has returned.

This is the first I am hearing of this. I know LB is a TOOL, not a solution. But now it seems there is an expiry on its effectiveness??

Can someone shed some insight?

Thanks!

Hmmm, I've never heard of this. I certainly hope it isn't true. I do know this is the case for gastric bypass patients though. Is it possible maybe you misunderstood?

It is entirely possible that I misunderstood - the support group is for both gastric and band patients. There are over 100 people there each time!

Thanks for the idea.

Hmmmmm..........

I think its a little bit true. I certainly dont have the lack of appetite I had in the first 12 months. Well, I *think* I dont, perception changes too, that's what makes it tricky. What I think is a pig out now is nothing compared to before, I can barely even remember before. So perhaps I just think I eat more now than I did in the first year.

dont know. The head hunger and urges to eat at inappropriate triggers definitely came back for me, but I did change my habits and mindset and particularly got myself very fit and committed to exercise. So I havent found I've gained so much as an ounce.

But I do think I eat more "normal" and less "diet" nowadays.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
