Makes NO sense!!

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I have been stuck at the same weight for weeks now. I have been working out, walking the causeway for 50 minutes, watching what I eat, blah, blah, blah--- no weight loss. So, I said screw it, if I'm not lossing, I may as well eat whatever and I've slacked off on exercise this week. When what to my wondering eyes appears but 3 pounds lost in the past week. It just makes no sense. Anyone else have something which makes no sense?:)

I was not a believer of the less you eat the more your body holds onto for fear of starvation, but others are, so maybe you weren't getting in enough calories and you body was thinking you were starving? I love the games our bodies play on us. Good job on the weight loss!

Ugh. It's true, the games my body plays are never-ending. For me, though, it's so tiring! No weight loss since my second fill last week. (foot-tapping, eyes rolling, big sigh) I can't figure it out. 3 pounds at this point would mean lots to me. Good job, Heather!

I have heard of this happening to other people.

The "one" valuable thing I got out of weight watchers is when you hit a plateau, that means you need to "move the furniture around" - eat a little more or a little less. Eat at a different time of day. Eat foods you don't normally eat. Exercise at a different time of day or do a different exercise. The WW leader's theory is that this kind of wakes your body up and jolts you out of whatever rut that causing the plateau.

I should know who wrote this, but I read yesterday on a post about the idea of our body/mind definition of "lose" and "gain" and that plateau's are our body's way of adjusting to a new reality...when we are ready, the will release more weight. I am trying to re-think my ideas of lose and gain, and replace lose with "releasing". I am telling myself I am ready to release more weight.

I also like the idea of changing up some things you are doing. And if possible, stay away from the scale for a few days...

Don't worry, it will move! Cindy

I've been stuck for 2 months and joined a gym 3 weeks ago and now the stinkin scale is going up. I'm HOPING that I'm gaining some muscle and I'm on the verge of seeing the scale drop, but who knows.

It is said though that if you do the same thing for a while and it's not doing any good, to change it up, even if that means eating more than normal for a few days or something. It's definitely strange, but hey, we'll take it, right?

10-26 Went to weigh in 6 weeks after fill, down 1/2 lb. ugh so I did my measurments. have a list of areas I measure evey 4-6 weeks or so, and ....

8-2 down 15 3/4"

10-11 down 11 3/4

10-26 down 2.5"

did that every make a difference in the month of October only 1/2 lb gone but 14 1/4" how that happens I dont know and dont care as long as it keeps happening. yeah I know the whole fat vs muscle thing but WOW! I was almost as happy as my doc was. he jumped up and hugged me faster than I could realize. As long as I look good, the scale will catch up (or down as the saying goes!)

Mine is the same way as Brenda. I have lost 28 lbs. since May 31st, which 10 lbs. were the first week. I had some fill problems, finally got those fixed and have been filled properly since Sept. 19 and have lost only 8 lbs. of that 28 lb. total since that last fill. However, I measure myself at the beginning of each month and to date I have lost about 35 inches all the way around! So to me... I don't really care what the scale says, although it is very depressing not seeing it move, but I will take 35 inches any day! People are really starting to notice and I feel better. That was one thing that always made me mad about Weight Watchers... it was all about what the scale says and not the overall effect. Anyway, you might want to start taking measurements once a month and see how that works. Good luck...

OK, I am having your same problem now! I have been religiously eating 800 calories a day and doing 30 minutes of aerobics a day, every day. I was steadily losing this month and was down 13 pounds since the 3rd. I jumped on the scale this morning and somehow GAINED 2 POUNDS. Of course, this put me into a tail spin and I ate like 700 calories at lunch and feel like everything I did this week was for nothing. I am hoping it was the whole "not getting enough calories, so your body is hoarding" thing goin on. Now I want to eat everything in sight. I swear this lifetime long struggle will be the death of me, DEATH OF ME I SAY! Just had to say that I understand and I hope by overeating today my body will see a change and drop some more. UGG!

*snort* hello? *tap*tap*tap* is this thing on? Heh, my entire journy with the band hasn't made much sense! I stick to a 1200 regeme and don't lose, and I up to 1600 calories one day and then I drop a few pounds.

working out = muscle weight. Muscle weighs more then fat. If you clothing is feeling loose then you are doing fine. If your clothing is not feeling loose, cut out the carbs and increase your Protein for a few days it should start you loosing again.

Going off and back on works to, but you may plateau again.

Keep it up!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
