How do you get protein in w/o shakes????

My question is this.....for those of you who don't drink protein shakes, how in the world do you get in all your protein everyday? I am almost 5 months post-op and my dr wants me to cut back on the shakes and eat my protein with food, but I just can't seem to eat that much! If you could share how you are able to do it, I would love the ideas! Thanks!

I never drink protein shakes (except post-fill). I add soy protein powder to my morining oatmeal concoction (along w/added fiber). I eat lean protein first at lunch and dinner and sometimes have a snack on nuts or edamame. I find it harder to get in all the veggies and fruit because I'm eating mainly protein (so the protein is easy for me). Good luck! -BG

Well I still have a protein drink every morning because I am to tight to eat solids but tune is loaded in protein and I love Greek yogurt.

I have some Protein at lunch and dinner, I tend to eat things like muesli for Breakfast, but there's protein in milk etc.

To be honest, I dont focus on protein at all. I wouldnt have a clue how much of it I eat most days. We dont do it that way in Australia. I know its an important food group and I include it, but basically, I exercise a LOT and hard, and I can eat 1800 calories a day to maintain my weight now, lost easily on 1500. So I can eat enough to not need to supplement anything.

If anything, I'm the opposite. I worry about vegies and fruit and believe them equally important as protein, so I dont do protein first. I do everything equal.

Salmon

Tuna

Lentils (Lentil Soup - yum!)

Do an internet search for high Protein foods and you'll get some good ideas.

I eat salmon, turkey burgers, chicken sausage (not the spicey kind it made me vomit). Cheese and yougurt and beans have some protien too. The advice i have been given is protien first. I take a multivitamin and a calcium vitamin. Of course remember to chew chew chew. Good luck!

-Protein Bars (I like Zone Perfect Dark Chocolate)

-Greek Yogurt

-Light Cheese (Weight Watchers has a 1pt/50 cal cheese stick that is good. Also Laughing Cow has yummy light spreadable cheese)

- Cottage Cheese
