Banded on the 23rd ... I got questions!

Recommended Posts

Hi bandsters! As of right now im on stage 2 diet .. which consists of mostly Soup, applesauce and yogurt(which after this i never EVER ever wanna eat soup ever again) But I think all is going well .. i have lost 10 lbs since the surgery (in total i have lost 90 since july) But i have some questions that hopefully you guys can answer.

#1: Im craving salt like no tomarrow, is this normal?

#2 Since it is December its very cold out and i noticed that when i go out side for walks i feel my little stomach cramping up, did you guys get that feeling too?

#3 How easy is it to stretch out your little lapband stomach?

#4 Is drinking almond milk okay?

#5 When i went in for the surgery i was still getting over a cold, do you think me coughing would mess up the staples/stitches arround the band?

Thank you guys in advance!

My 2 cents:

1) I'd think this is an individual preference. Some people love the sodium, some don't.

2) I don't know what you consider cold. I live in Texas, and it's been unusually cold here (low 30s......occasionally high 20s). I don't get those muscle cramps. What you feel is probably related to the "recentness" of your surgery.

3) I don't know what you mean by "stretch out". Do you mean is it easy to eat too much food?

4) I guess so. Is it a high caloric / high fat liquid? That would be my only concern. Personally, I love soymilk (and real milk, lol).

5) Probably the amount of coughing you would get from a cold would be ok. Coughing is rarely as violent as vomiting.

#1: Im craving salt like no tomarrow, is this normal? This would be an individual preference, or you more than likely you're dehydrated. Our bodies tend to crave salt when we're dehydrated because it makes us want to drink.

#2 Since it is December its very cold out and i noticed that when i go out side for walks i feel my little stomach cramping up, did you guys get that feeling too? This is more than likely your gas and band settling since you're walking for exercising so soon after surgery.

#3 How easy is it to stretch out your little LAP-BAND® stomach? Your stoma/pouch can be stretched out over time when you eat too much. Just stick to your 4-6oz at a time and you'll be fine (or whatever amount your dr gives you.)

#4 Is drinking almond milk okay? No skim milk only. The fat content is entirely too high.

#5 When i went in for the surgery i was still getting over a cold, do you think me coughing would mess up the staples/stitches arround the band? No or they wouldn't have done surgery.

Thank you guys in advance!

You're welcome

Congrats on your weightloss!

To answer your questions:

#1: Im craving salt like no tomarrow, is this normal? To me EVERYTHING was too salty so I think its personal

#2 Since it is December its very cold out and i noticed that when i go out side for walks i feel my little stomach cramping up, did you guys get that feeling too? I agree with the comment about gas and newnes after surgery - had similiar feelings

#3 How easy is it to stretch out your little LAP-BAND® stomach? This shuld really be a questions for you medical team

#4 Is drinking almond milk okay? For me almond and soy milk are on the approved liquid list but you really need to talk with your team or nutrionist.

#5 When i went in for the surgery i was still getting over a cold, do you think me coughing would mess up the staples/stitches arround the band? No you are goo just coughing - you may want to hold a pillow over your tummy to lessen the jolting

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
