  1. pickles.... i feel fustrated too. I was banded in SEPT 30th 2009. Since then i have had 6 fills and still very little restriction. I have lost 40 lbs and that makes me happy. But to be honest with all the changes i have made in my daily life i thought i would be much closer to my goal ( -100 lbs) I think the band is a Tool that compliments a DIET. I try not to dreprive myself of nothing, becuase from experiance that is how past diets haved failed!! I have a lot of support from my family and it helps that my 6 year old daughter tell me that i am "melting" One thing i want to stop doing is getting on the scale so much... in the last 3 months i have been stuck. I want to focus on how my clothes fit. I am not going to give up... I have 3 young kids that depend on me to be healthy so that i can take care of them. Best of luck with your new band!
  2. What was the date of your surgery?sept 30 2009 How healthy did you/do you eat? eating well 80% of the time How much do you exercise? on average 3 times a week. elliptical for 40-60 min or untill it tells me i have burned 500 + calories How much have you lost? 40 lbs Are you happy with your results? im fustrated but hopefull, since i know i am not at my sweet spot. i have very little restriction. My Goal right now is to loose a total of 50 lbs by sept 30 2010!!!
  3. anyone know of support groups in the NorthShore/Merrimack area?
  4. Im in HAVERHILL. been banded for 10 months and have lost just over 40lbs....been going slow. but getting there. would love to loose a total of 50lbs by my 1 year anniv

I have not had a Diet Coke in 10 months... i miss it mostly fo the caffeinne. I am not a coffee/tea drinker. but i think if i had a soda today i would not like how blated it makes you...and the burping would last all day! I love Asian food...i still eat it but i make sure i divide it in 2- 3 portions so thati make sure i dont eat all of it. I dont have much restriction and so i am going with will power. I have not had bread ...that i gave up on my own. Rice i think i will never be able to give up...must be a Latina thing. Take everyday as a new day... i screw up alot but i dont put myself down. I have lost 40lbs...not as much as many in this site but i, getting closer to my 1st goal! I told everyone.... most are supportive, some have become the "food police"

i have had 6 fills and not much restriction... but that is just me. Everyday i wake up and hope i dont get hungry between meals and that i have lost a little.... good luck on the competition and your move >>>PRAYING<<<<
  7. I have been banded for 10 months...ost 40 lbs so far. But in the last 3 month i have not lost an oz. Pretty fustrating...since ima going to the gym 3 times a week. My diet is not perfect, i am not into fried food...but i still do like my rice, pasta and crunchy carbs that are so bad. I have almost no restriction (after 6 fills) so i am depending on my will power till i get to the sweet spot i hear so much about. Take everyday as a NEW day to make choices. Yesterday you might of eaten crap...but TODAY you will change what you put in your mouth. We have all had bad eating habbits for years, it is unrealistic to think we can change and be perfect in a short amount of time. Keep your chin up!! and take it one day at a time. Remember you have lost 30lbs already...that is great! My goal is to loose a total of 50lbs by my 1 year anniv in Sept. Doesnt sound like much...but it took me 10 years to gain 100 Lbs, i think it will take me maybe 2 years to loose it
  8. too funny!!! my craving go more for the crunchy carbs such as Sun chips, Thin wheats, Gold fish.. but know that i am potty trainning my twins and giving them a couple of M&Ms when they go, i am treatting myself to some too... I need to stop it. Good luck
  9. let him get on this site a couple of times... he will see that we all come here to support, to vent, to get motivated. He needs to be less insecure about the issue of you looseing the weight, he cant be making you feel guilty about this. I met my husband almost 10 years ago on the Net. it was a big surprise to me.. I wish you the best.
  10. DITO!!! HAving high expectations can be a bitch! I keep telling myself that " it took me 10 years to gain 100 lbs, i cant expect to loose it in 1 year" I have stopped weighing myself weekly, now i am doing it every 2 weeks.. i dont care so much about #'s on the scale as i do about clothes fitting me right and getting into a size 14 jean someday. good luck and chin up!

well the surprise was on me!!! I met two friends. The last time i saw them one of them was quiet large, even bigger than me. WEll... i did not recognize the woman walking towards me till she opened her mouth to say hello... OMG!!! it was only half of her!! She lost over 130lbs in the last 2 years. She had the Gastro Bypass and had reached her goal. I was speechless...and very happy for her. But in my head i was like" why cant i be a skinnymine now" We talked just a little about the surgery and all because we had to catch up with so much in 2 hours. She looks totally different, i would of never recognized her if we bumped into eachother in the street. So, i did tell them about my band... it felt ok. But seeing her gave me a new motivation. I added a pic to my album... she is the one in red. I want to be irrecognisable too!! sorry for th spelling.. Have a great day everone. Oh yeah... this week im goin to the gym 5 days. to see if it wakes up my body. Hi Finallyincontrol: Thanks for the advice. I will try advice # 1.3.4 I only drink water, no juices, coffee, milk. Just started snaking on posicles, not bad

MY TROUBLE AREA IS MY bELLY, DR TELLS ME THAT BECAUSE I HAD TWINS 3 YEARS AGO MY ABDOMINAL MUSCLES ARE STRETCHED OUT AND IT WILL BE DIFFICULT TO EVER HAVE A FLAT BELLY...THE MEASUREMENT THER HAS BEARLY CHANGED SINCE THE BAND AND -40 LBS
  16. for the last 2 days while eatinning my dinner i have had to stop, get up from the table and go to the kitchen sink with the feeling that my last 2 bites are stuck and getting ready to come up.... the episodes last 15-20 mins. I know it is a good idea to eat your meals at the table but when you are surrounded by 3 small kids that are doing anything to get your attention ( playing with their food; requesting more juice, demanding more ketchup...ect) i think i cant relax and pay attention to what is on my plate and how i chew my food. Anyways im excited that after 9 months i know have a little restriction....hopefully it is a sign that i am getting closer to my sweet sopt. I have nto weighed myself in almost 2 weeks...the scale has not moved in almost 2 months...so i think i will wait till next friday to do it. I went to the gym 4 times this week...it wasnt easy. But it got done. On sunday i am seeing family that have not seen me since last July. Since then i have lost 40 lbs..im sure they are thinking i should have lost more. I will be wearing a bathingsuit ( yuck) I know they will see a difference in my legs, just because my skin is loose. Ok...hope everyione has a great 4th of July!!!

What i am doing right: - I am drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day - I gave up soda , caffeine and BREAD - I am working out 2-3 times a week. Usually before the 3 kids wake up and i dont get off the elliptical/treadmill till the machine tells me i have burned atleast 500 calories - I am realistic! - i keep a food journal - I weigh myself only once a week, on Mondays What i am doing wrong - I can eat well over 1 cup of food per meal...ususally more like 12-14 oz - i am a "crunchy carb" junky and that has been hard to to give up I still eat chips, crackers, gramcrackers, corn chips...all the junk that slides right through - i have 3 small kids and it seems i spend more that half of my day in the kitchen fixing up meals, snacks and treats...so i end up graissing on bad food choices. - i have 2-3 alcoholic drinks per week ( i need it after a day with teh kids!!) -Just cant give up Rice... it must be a Latina thing! - I forget to take my vitamins, calcium and vitamin D 50% of the time - I am eating well over 1200 calories per day -I look at myself and see no real changes. I still look like i am prego. My list could go an and on...but i have to go do my 3rd load of laundry.... just needed to vent i guess. goodnight
  18. Ok this is a great Blog. It has been a while. How are you? I had my band in Sept 09 and it is going very very slow. I lost most of my 40 lbs in the fisrt 4 months... since then i have lost very little and it seems my body want to stay put. I have not been !00% good with the new MENU. I have no restriction. but i got my 5th fill yestesterday and i am hopefull it gets me closer to the "'sweet spot" I have along wat to go...so i need to take it one day at a time you are very fortunate you have a family and darling BF supporting you. Hope all is well
  19. Hi Miss. I was banded in Sept /09 and so far i have lost only 40lbs. In the last 4 months i have basically not lost at all. Just yeasterday i had my 5th fill and i have 7.8 CC in my band. I hope this gives me some restriction since i have had none in the last 8 months. It has been very very difficult to give up my old habbits. I am home all the time with my 3 small kids and it seems i spend a hell of alot of time in the kitchen getting Snacks, drinks, meals ready and so i start munching without really noticing. I am a "crunchy carb" junky!!! and i am coming to realize that i am sabotaging myself all the time. It has been really hard not to drink while i sit for a meal but i am trying. I have not touched sodas, caffeinne and bread since the band. But im sitll eating rice, a little past and just eating between meals. I am not perfect, no one is. THIS WILL TAKE TIME... it took me 10 years to gain 100 lbs i should not expect to loose it in 1 year. Do not get discouraged and do not be shy to go to the Dr for a fill. you may have to hear a speech in what you should be doing. But i believe you have to have restriction to make this work. right now i am in liquids for a few days,, but i hope that by monday when i do to eat my lunch i will feel i cant eat much... Good luck and CHIN up! Vic

Best of luck!!!! it is all worth it.
  22. thanks for the info..i will look for the BBC show. Today is day 6 of potty trainning and so far its going ok although the boys are now competing and sitting on the potty way to much and only peeing a tiny bit sometimes and still requesting the "treat" which is 2 M&Ms. Unfortunally i also am giving myself a treat too everytime i empty and clean the potty. I work Sat adn SUNs so my husband will be in charge of the trainning. He is a lttle to layed back so i hope that by Monday the boys have not regressed With my 3 kids i have been carefull what food a give them and specially the portions so that they dont have to deal with what i did. What is hard it to make other family & friends realize that you cant give a kid a adult serving of chips, cookies, crackets, ice cream. I use small bowls and dishes so it looks like more. The boys are loving the M&Ms since it is the 1st time that have them.
  23. It has onmt been one month since my last fill...but after 10 days i knew i was not going to feel any restriction so i called and made an appt to get a fill. The dr gave me 1.2 CC so i have a total of 7.8 CC. He also gave me some pointers in regards to my food journal. I was drinking a protein drink of having fruit for BF and he said to change that. That i need something bulkier in the AM and to try to stay away from the "snaking" between meals. That is hard. Right now i am potty trainning 2 boys and i am constantly going to the kitchen for treats, snacks, meals Oh and my 6 years old daughter is out of school...so she is 'trying " to help my next appt will be in sept, that will be my 1 year annv. but if i dont see any real change in my band and my diet i will be going back to the dr.
