  1. It sounds like you are making a conscious effort to succeed, kudos to you! knowing what your strengths and weaknesses are is very important, and some never know, so congrats. Keep your head up and keep moving ! good luck!
  2. I lost 16 pounds preop but I did not have a liquid diet, just a normal diet. I think it helps show that we can follow a diet , and it also kcks start the process. Keep your head up!
  3. criteria, what to bring to the hospital, how large is band, when is 1st fill, pre op diet, post op diet, how long will process take, pros and cons, problems associated with lap band. Good luck to you and I hope you get all your answers .
  4. oh definitely! I have had many family members become jealous because I am succeeding in something. Its sad that they cant support me but I figure along with the weight I will lose the toxic people in my life. I'm sorry that things with your husband have not worked out, perhaps this will be a wakeup call for him. If not you will surely find someone out there who loves, respects, and appreciates all your decisions big and small. Good luck to you!
  5. Congrats on realizing what works and doesnt work for you, that is a big accomplishment that many people never realize! I hope you get to goal really soon ! Good luck!
  6. You want to make sure that you are trying to stick to the preop diet because it helps in shrinking your liver. If your liver is too fatty it can obstruct the surgery from being done. I know it is hard but focus your attention on something else, like picking out a new wardrobe from when you are at goal. Good luck to you and let us know how surgery goes!:bored:
  7. Congrats on the start of a happier , healthier you!
  8. Congrats on the 20 lbs! As far as the taste after you eat, that is really weird. I know my taste buds have changed since surgery. Things I once loved I can't stand anymore. Consult with your doc , just in case. Good luck!
  9. not to scare you cuz everyone is different , but it took me a good month. I slept in a recliner for 4 weeks. That sucked!
  10. I'm glad you found something that works for you! good luck!
  11. I know personally I get enery to exercise by eating a good deal of protein. A workout will be tough if you are not getting in the right amount of nutrients. Good luck to you.
  12. 1) Liquids- cystal light, light juices, Protein shakes 2) Mushies- applesauce, baby food, cottage cheese, sf Jello,sf pudding, sugar free popsicles 3) Comfort Items or med supplies - new pjs, pillows, gas x strips, Vitamins, some movies to watch during recovery, etc. Congrats on the start of a happier and healthier you!
  13. Sending positive vibes your way. Hope to hear your prego really soon!
  14. I think it is very important that you have support during this time. It is unfortunate that your husband is not doing that. Here is what I think though, making the decision to have the lapband is one of the best decisions you will ever make. You are being an advocate for your own health, something that no one else can do for you. With that said you need to do this and not worry on what your husband or anyone else thinks. Does you husband realize the risks for staying overweight are far greater then the risks for getting banded? You should have him check out this site, and talk to a couple of us. Although is sad that he cannot support you remember there are so many of us struggling witht the same things, and we are all here to support each other. Good luck to you and remember this is your decision! Keep me posted.
  15. Congrats, you should be sooooooo proud of yourself. That is some definite motivation. Enjoy and bask in this wonderful moment. Keep up the GREAT work.
  16. Congrats on the start of a happier and healthier you! Keep us posted.
  17. Definitely call your surgeon! Something doesn't sound right!
  18. You definitely should get in to see your doc. Hair loss is a definite sign of lack of protein and vitamins. Are you exercising? That could be a problem with the halt of weightloss. Are you following all the lapband rules, no eating or drinking at the same time, etc? If you are doing eveything right, then you need a doctors opinion on what is going on. Good luck to you!
  19. If you are nervous about getting a fill, the I would would just plan to spend a portion of my day in pakistan exercising. I would make sure I am diligent at following all the lapband rules, and making surei get some exercise going. Even if you have to do pushups, jog in place, climb stairs, etc. movement will help. I wish you the best of luck!
  20. I hear you on the sleeping thing ! I literally slept or tried to sleep in my recliner for 1 month posy op. Seriously 1 month!
  21. you shouldn't drink with meals because it pushes food through your stomach faster. You stay fuller faster, and you do not eat as much if you are notating and drinking at the same time. I am surprised your doc did not have that be part of your guidelines. Good luck to you!
  22. I'm sorry that things are going like this for you! Here are what I would do. 1. get a fill 2. follow all lapband rules 3. Exercise 4. track what i'm eating 5. make sure eating enough Protein, getting Vitamins, etc Stay positive, things will turn around. Keep us updated! Good luck!
  23. Have you tried carnation instant breakfast no sugar added? its the better of protein shakes, even though they are still awful. I have heard that you can buy protein powder that is flavorless, and add it to pudding, cottage cheese, etc. ope that helps. Good luck
  24. Welcome to LBT. As far as weight loss per month goes; my doc wants to see you lose 1-2 pounds per week, although some lose more and some lose less. Good luck to you and I hope you get your approval really soon.
