Shopping list to get ready for post-op

My surgery is Thursday of this week!!!

I need to go shopping for things I might need for the next several phases so I am ready to go!!!

What did you shop for for the first few phases of the diet and each catagory below? I am also having my tonsils removed at the same time and I am SO much more worried about that then the band! I have to avoid anything red (popcicles etc) due to the tonsils early on!

Anything you can put under these catagories (what you shopped for or what you ate) will be so helpful!!!

I do have some Protein powder and will have some Optifast shakes left as I am not getting them all in at this point and will have a few leftovers.

1) liquids

2) Mushies

3) Comfort Items or med supplies

2) Mushies- applesauce, baby food, cottage cheese, sf Jello,sf pudding, sugar free popsicles

3) Comfort Items or med supplies - new pjs, pillows, gas x strips, Vitamins, some movies to watch during recovery, etc.

Congrats on the start of a happier and healthier you!

Baby Food? What kind is good?

For liquid stage, Isopure, snapple type drink with 40g Protein in each 20 oz bottle, available at GNC.

Also chicken broth. I find warn chicken broth very comforting. I've been using Herb Ox, but I find it very bland, so have been adding Mrs Dash. I just ordered a chicken broth Protein Powder from powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury.com. I hope its good because I ordered a large container.

Congratulations!! I put photos on my blog of all of the things I bought for my liquids diet. Feel free to take a look (it's at the very beginning). The things I most enjoyed were:

Soups, which I'd blend until they were very liquid;

cottage cheese (thinned out in the blender with skim milk);

Yogurt;

Fat Free/Sugar Free Jello pudding (chocolate);

FF/SF ice pops;

baby food (I bought an organic brand); and

Isopure Protein drinks (the Gatoraid-like kind).

Best wishes for a safe surgery & speedy recovery,

Catherine

Thanks, Catherine, great blog. . .

Here's the Post-Surgery Shopping list that my doctor's nutritionist gave us on Friday:

Liquid Diet:

  • Carnation Instant Breakfast or other fortified supplement drink (NOT sugar free, try Ensure, Boost, Glurcerna, etc.)
  • Cream soups (no food chunks)
  • Vegetable juice
  • Fruit Juices (apple, grape, etc)
  • Tomato Soup
  • Diet Ice Cream
  • broth (chicken and/or beef) either granules, cubes, canned, etc)
  • Light yogurt (no fruit chunks)
  • SF Jellos/puddings
  • Popsicles/fudgesicles

Blenderized Diet:

  • Instant Mashed Potatoes
  • Instant oatmeal or Cream of Wheat
  • Refried Beans
  • Baby Food (NO added corn syrup)
  • eggs

Soft Diet:

  • Canned soft fruit/vegetables
  • Canned tuna, chicken or shredded beaf
  • Low-fat cheese
  • Deli meats
  • Ground beef
  • Fish (NOT breaded)
  • Whole wheat Pasta
  • Brown rice
  • Melba toast, 100% Whole Wheat Bread, Multigrain Crackers
  • Bran Flakes, Total Cereal

Other:

  • Gas-X
  • Chewable Vitamin
  • Benefiber
  • Tums
  • Pepcid
  • Anti-nausea medicine

I was going to say juices but the acidity in them might be painful. For the liquid stage I basically lived on water, apple juice, milk, popsicles and sustagen which is an all mineral and vitamins drink. Then when I went onto mushies I just had whatever the family did but added more liquid so it was a thinner consistency. It's easier and if you can't afford to go out and buy different things then it's better. As for comfort things? Heat pads are great for most afterwards =)
