  1. Just curious, but are those your surgeon's instructions? I know all surgeons are different, but I will still be on pureed food at 3 1/2 weeks, and can't eat solid regular food for 7 weeks. Maybe your new pouch is telling you it is too soon for such heavy food. Now, if it is on your plan, maybe you ate too quickly or too much volume. Good luck, and I hope it doesnt happen again!
  2. First, leaks are rare, and second, I hear that if you have a leak and try to drink it is very unusually painful. Good luck and try mot to worry!
  3. Hi, what in particular are you very scared about? The life style change that we have to make? I think if you do a lot of reading on this site you'll find a lot of success stories and support. You'll make it through just fine, and if you follow your surgeon's directions to the T, things will go smoothly. Hang in there and don't fret so much!!
  4. Hi, my GB is March 27th. There are a bunch of us having surgery that day. I don't start my liver shrinking diet until one week before. I'm a little nervous. but mostly really ready to get this going and begin my new life. I have horrible arthritis in my knees, and I'm hoping that with some weight loss the pain will get better.
  5. Wow! What an inspiring post! My surgery is in 2 weeks, ans I pray I can have smooth sailing as well! Happy for you!
  6. My bypass is March 27th. I'm feeling ready to do this!!
  7. So, does anyone else have a fear of feeling hungry? I realized recently that I tend to eat the moment I feel anything remotely like hunger! (I'm pre surgery. rny on March 27th!) Right now I'm lying in bed hungry and wanting to eat, but I know in a week I will be on the liver shrinking diet and I should just suck it up! I'm afraid I will mess up post-surgery since it seems I am always hungry!! Help.
  8. I use Tespo liquid vitamins. Expensive, but worth it, I think!
  9. My surgery is March 27th and I'm taking almost 4 weeks off. I, too, wanted time to adjust to a new pouch and I get dizzy on few calories so I wanted to be good and acclimated before I went back.
  10. I have Anthem BCBS and also had the 6 month requirement. There isn't a way to " Work around " it as if you want your insurance company to pay for it you have to jump through their hoops. The time goes fast, but it is a bit frustrating! My surgery is March 27th and I started this process last May! I'm thrilled I have insurance coverage!

  12. My bypass is March 27th, too!
  13. Hi, DavidP, my preop physical is the 13th of March, but I don't have to start the diet until one week before the surgery. I'm relieved. I'm sure we'll all do fine, although I am a little nervous.
  14. Oh, ((hugs)). Don't feel stupid. You know your body, and know if something isn't right. Besides it has been a week and you're still struggling.
  15. Hi! You didn't make any mistakes! There are quite a few threads on here about choosing between sleeve and gastric bypass. Here's one - https://www.bariatricpal.com/applications/tapatalk/index.php?/topic/423101-How’d-you-Choose?-Sleeve-v.s.-Bypass? I chose bypass because I have reflux and my surgeon believes that the sleeve usually makes it worse. I am a little scared about having my intestines rerouted, but I need to do this, and I believe the bypass is best for me. Do your research, and I wish you all the best.
  16. Yes, please contact your surgeon's office!!
  17. I would definitely mention the past gasping for air even if it has been a while. You could be stopping breathing in your sleep and not be aware of it. I didn't feel like I was gasping, but stopped breathing many times an hour and didn't even know.
  18. Hi, Poppyseed28, nice to "meet" you! I live up closer to Hartford.
  19. Hi, Tracy, I'm having bypass on March 27th, too! My name is Sarah and I live in Connecticut. I just turned 57, am 5' 3, weigh about 235 and am hoping to lose 100 lbs at least, but getting healthy for me is more important than the number on the scale. I have a bunch of comorbidities. Thanks for starting this thread.
  20. I had the same gassy problem with Premier Protein and decided it was the lactose... I think I can eat yogurt and cheese, but high concentration of lactose sends me running to the bathroom!
  21. Azhiker, what great advice! I'm a very "addictive " person, and could use to eliminate caffeine, sugar, snacky foods, etc. in the 5 weeks til my surgery. I had been just eating what I want, but more discipline is needed! Thanks for positng this.
  22. March 27th at Hartford Hospital in Hartford Ct
  23. My doctor wouldn't do the sleeve on me because I have reflux disease not well controlled by meds. He said the sleeve would make the reflux worse. In addition, i preferred the bypass because although it seems more drastic, i think for me it will be more effective. Having bypass 3/27/19.
  24. There's like 4 of us now on March 27th! Me too! Welcome and best of luck to you!
