Hi, I am going to be getting surgery to have the low profile put in. It can't hurt to talk to your doctor about it, hopefully it will go well :crying: You have lost a lot weight! I am envious.

Oh I understand about the lack urinating for sure lol, I was so terrified and could'nt go, they put a catheter in - yay. Finally once they took it back out I could go - this with my husband cheering me on while I was on the john and the Water was running - oh god! I drank what I could when I could after surgery, I slept a lot, watched tv from my bed and basically just took care of myself the best I could. I have had some hair loss issues from my last good fill that really gave me restriction, but I upped my Protein and things are improving. Good luck and welcome to the banded world )

Well, after much discussion and worry with my surgeon I am having a lap band port revision. I am happy with this even though it will be on November 19th - only 5 months after my original surgery- you see, my port bonks against my ribs causing me considerable pain. So, we have the day and the insurance will pay - thank god. I will be out from the 19th of November until the Friday after Thanksgiving and then of course I will have that weekend as well. I am finally at a point with only 2 fills where I have great restriction and am finally losing weight, I will be all set after this surgery is competed. Wish me luck and feel free to tell me about your port revision :smile2:

I have been asked if I have regretted it - because I am a slow loser and I have to have a port revision done very soon, but honestly no - I don't regret it - I have lost 15 pounds in three months and that is just fine with me Good luck to you and I will be thinking of you along the way Yaayyyyyyy

Oh heck yes I would :thumbup: I have about 60 more pounds to go but even at 36 I would totally do it :wub: I have spent so much of my life hiding I will probably wear a bikinin well into my 90's :girl_hug:

Hi there, how did your port replacement go? I am going to be having a "lower profile port" put in. The surgeons office has just contacted my insurance to get approval. How long were you out of work? How was the surgery compared to the first one with the band and port being put in? I am very curious lol, sorry about being nosey.

Hi there, I understand what you are saying completely and I can tell you what I learned from therapy - the food will be there another day, it will not suddenly dissapear, we are not facing a famine - sounds silly but I have really had to think like that in order to help my mind understand it is ok to not eat it all :redface: Good luck to you

I hd surgery June 16 2008 and have lost 13 pounds so far But you know I will take it because I can't imagine having gained instead Good luck and you are doing great!:redface:

I am very lucky because our favorite restaurant is locally owned and I have a fantastic relationship with the staff there. They all know I had surgery and are very accommodating with food for me. I haven't even tried eating from the childrens menu when we have gone out (to other restaurant), I just order one thing I love to pieces and eat a little of it, then I have it boxed up and I now have many meals of my favorite thing. But, on the other hand I do understand how frustrating this can be for all involved, so many people just don't understand this surgery - and that is ok, they don't have to and as much as I would like to make them understand it isn't worth the effort for me personally. However, if you fee strongly - and it sounds like you do - you should write a letter to the company and voice your opinion :biggrin: There is nothing like free speech!:girl_hug:

I am having the same problem, my surgery was on June 16th. Next Tuesday Sept 16th I am having a CT scan to see what is going on. My surgeon has mentioned port revision. We shall see :biggrin: But I do understand totally, I compensate for it poking my rib by leaning, stretching and generally rearrange myself :cool2: Good luck!

I only got my band on June 16th but what held me back until now at 36 years old was my self denial I was "that big" LOL. I use to say to my therapist " I am a dyslexic anorexic" (no offense meant to anyone with that dilbilitating eating disorder) as in I was bigger than I ever thought I was, I really would look in the mirror and think I was smaller!

Thank you to both you for your replies Acutally I can't wait for my fill on Tuesday that is for sure. I am pretty comfortable with the condition of my mental state and old habits, but thank you for the reminder. Perhaps I ate something that is just irritating (as you suggested) or just got stuck, I will ask my surgeon about it if it is not feeling better. Take care both of you and Cheers!

Hello Fellow lap banders :Banane03: So, I was banded June 16th, I was just commenting yesterday about my band how I can eat constantly, always hungry, no restriction etc. ...Well, I let myself get extremely hungry yesterday (stupid I know) and I had the worst case of a growling stomach, ever since then I have had a lot of restriction which I have not had since the band. And today for the first time I had "sliming" ick! Has anyone else had something similiar? sudden restriction before your first fill? (Having my fill Tuesday July 22nd)

I understand your pain - I was banded June 16th and have lost 6 ish pounds. Now, I do weigh myself and I suppose that is my pre-ogerative - however, it helps me stay on track - band or not. I have my first fill this Tuesday (July 22nd) and I am looking forward to feeling some restriction. I do count calories, I do excercise, I do eat my Protein first etc. My surgeon also said that not until you receive fills do you neccessarily start losing, each band is different as each person is different. Hang in there and I am right there with you :confused:

Omg, yes I am 4 weeks out as of yesterday and I have been very hungry LOL, I am having a fill a week from today (my first one) my doctor said he put a 14cc band in and I had a "skinny inside" so the band is flopping around he said - I just do not have much restriction. But, I have lost 6 pounds since surgery and I will happily take it. Once this fill is in I think it will help greatly :thumbup: Good luck!

I understand completely how scary this can be - but what scared me more than pain of the surgery (which for me was minimal) was spending the rest of my life obese - I didn't want to hurt my body by stretching my skin beyond its limit, watching my cholesterol climb, wondering when I would have a heart attack like my father.... I could go on and on, and although it has been a month and I haven't lost a ton (I do have my first fill July 22nd which will help) I am happier with my body already, I am happier that I made a difficult decision that was scarey - you will have to make that decision when the time is right for you - if it is now then you will jump in whole heartedly :thumbup: Good luck, take it one day at a time, talk to your doctor, ask lots of questions - and the people on this site are great with lots of great advice

Hello, I was nervous too and did have second thoughts but trust me I would never go back, I am glad that I did it. Oh god the ten day diet stunk but to be honest I think after the surgery was more difficult after following the diet- for me it still is, I keep wanting to rush but then have to remember to follow my instructions :confused_smile: July 21st is this coming Monday :smile2: and I think you will be very happy afterwards :crying: I have to say that everyone at the hospital was fantastic and I had incredible care. I think that you will be ok once you get there - keep us posted I will anxious to hear your experience, good luck and smile!

My surgery was June 16th and everything has gone just fine. Until this past -Monday when I started getting chest pain - not in my band area but actually between my breasts higher up. So after being stupid :thumbup:(we all do it) I waited until Tuesday to call my surgeons office, they immediately asked me to take a baby aspirin and get to the Emergency room asap. Well, off I went to the E.R. as requested, I was poked at, oxygen applied, hovered over, had an ekg done, etc etc:frown:. and finally was told that I was not having a heart attack (thank you higher being!):redface: However, I was told that I had "Costochondritis" which is a inflamation of the cartilage join the ribs to the breast bone. It is very painful let me tell you and nothing helps other than major drugs or just trying to lay still like a dead cod But, that didn't seal the deal, my surgeon of course was contacted (as he should be) and he saw me yesterday were we struck a deal - I could keep my primer Fluid in and possibly continue to have my first fill on the 22nd if I had a "esophogram". So at 8:30 this morning I went back to the hospital and had said procedure done. I was such a basket case worrying that I might have a leak, slippage etc. that they called my surgeon from there, sent him the pictures via computer and they came back with good news My doctor said that there is nothing wrong with my band, no slippage, no leaks, no worries and in fact I can have my fill on the 22nd as planned! Hurray for me. So I am hanging low, and planning on relaxing as much as humanly possible this weekend so as not aggravate my chest area. Any ways I haven't been on much to post, but read the posts all the time, I wanted to share this experience with you all. And the moral of the story is to listen to your body no matter what, even if you are scared that something is wrong it is worth having things checked out:tongue:

Hello, it is going ok. I have good moments and then not so good moments. I go back to work on July 7th, I was lucky enough to have time built up for leave and I really I have to say I need it. :ohmy:

Hello Jenniferg, I feel ok over all, my port is on my right side and every once and a while if I move just right I will feel a pinch. I am gassy and having to take a lot of Gas X strips right now (sorry probably TMI lol) There is no way I would be able to got to work as I am exhausted, some times I am fine sitting up and the next I am dozing off, I need a lot of rest these days. Thank you for all the great replies I feel much better now knowing that this is normal and other people have experienced the same. I am excited that tomorrow is my full liquid diet stage - pudding will never have tasted so good I bet LOL.:biggrin:

Good morning :rolleyes2: I was officially banded this past Monday and I am doing pretty good so far. Have followed my Clear liquids religiously and I am looking forward to full liquids this Saturday. I do have a silly question but I can't help but ask - did you experience a slight weight gain after the sugery? I went in as 204, was 206.5 yesterday and today now 204.5- Oh and I am not being anal retentive about weighing myself I was just curious to see what happens after and how quickly. I know that your body fluids fluctuate greatly and I want anyone who reads this to know I do not weigh myself normally more than once a week :thumbup: My urine is clearish and I am pleased with that is as I am drinking as much Fluid as possible to stay hydrated. I find that I am very tired easily but I have been getting up and walking around - which has helped with the gas greatly. Any ways, back to my original silly worry - did you gain weight directly after surgery and how long was it before you actually started to lose weight?
