Congratulations on your 7 pounds lost!

Driving after surgery?
I hope you can get a ride home - there was no possible way I would have made home in one piece - Quite frankly had I driven myself home I would have probably had an accident and or hurt someone! Good luck and I hope someone comes and gets you.

How well do you tolerate oatmeal?
I love oatmeal and I eat it most mornings with natural Peanut Butter. I sometimes make it with vanilla soy milk or regular soy milk - whatever I have. I have added toasted walnuts and dried cherries - that was yummy.

How often do you weight?
Sweetie! what are you doing that for? You are going to drive yourself insane girl! Put the scale away - seriously, or have someone hide it for you and bring it out once a week! I know what an obsession a scale can be - I have been there long before I had my lap band surgery - I am wishing you luck and will power to work through this - sorry if this wasn't the answer you were hoping for as I know you were wondering if anyone else does this - but I just had to reply and let you know someone is thinking of you and wishing you well.

My best NSV so far

Insurance approvals for those with BMI < 40
Hi, you are not bothering me at all and I understand the worry. I basically found out about my cholesterol and how bad my Gerd was when I started my Lap Band journey, until then I had no idea and I wasn't on any meds simply because I didn't know how bad both were. I am betting you will get approved, maybe you will have to fight it or maybe not but I am sure with a note from your PCP about treating you for diabetes would be huge in the decision making on your insurances part.

Sunday and the livin' is... well.... hungry?
Ok so the livin' should be easy right? According to that song that starts that way.... instead I am hungry lol and having moment where I am afraid to eat because I am so hungry I think I might eat too much? Does this make sense? When you let yourself go a little too long without food you worry you will I eat too much? I hate that feeling of "stuck-ness" more than I hate the feeling of hunger these days. - which I only have when I am not taken good care of myself - which is this past week - I have a cold like you read about and I am still dealing with this stupid ovarian cyst. So, any who what I think I should do is relax, go make a nice egg white omelet with some protein and just relax a bit more.

Insurance approvals for those with BMI < 40
I am sorry, no I didn't have high blood pressure, I was replying as I thought that even without your high blood pressure you had two other issues that I had and I wanted you to know that with those two issues they finally did approve me. They said at first I didn't meet my companies requirements for medical necessity, then on the second one they said I didn't have enough co-morbiities - finally they then approved me. I have CBA Blue

Insurance approvals for those with BMI < 40
Hi there, I was under the bmi of 40 and yes, my high cholesterol and gerd - along with arthritis in my knees seemed to do the trick. Mind you, I was denied twice but eventually the surgeon and his staff got me approved! Do not give up, I can't tell you how much I cried and stomped my foot(figuratively) when they denied me - I thought I would never get my surgery - but voila with their hard work I finally did get it! Good luck to you

hi
I think anxiety is normal For me Lap Band surgery was the best option, I however do have an Aunt and cousin (her daughter) that had Gastric Bypass and it was the best for them. I think it will really come down to what you qualify for and what makes you the most comfortable. Research, research and research! Good luck to you and welcome to this forum, I will look forward to seeing you around on your journey Barbie

How do you keep track of weight loss?
Hi I measure myself once a week on Saturdays (today - I had forgotten) and I weigh myself with a scale that tells me by body fat percentage - interesting to say the least ugh!
-
And all of a sudden EVERYONE is a freakin? expert on how to loose weight.
I told everyone, I still tell everyone LOL ... I feel if I can help one person who is overweight then I have done a wonderful thing. But, I understand what you mean about people telling you their opinions and thoughts. However I have found recently that those people have shut up - could be the dirty look I give them  Take care  Barbie

A little snarky but at least it is in my blog and not on the forum...
so... this will be a little snarky sounding but... why is it that some people who do not have the band seem to think they have it all figured out? They will do it right, they will not make mistakes, they will always follow to rules - what bullsh*t honestly. I hate to break it to them but it doesn't exactly work like that LOL, I thought I too would be anal retentive and do everything right, however, as we know it doesn't necessarily always go as planned... I am not saying this is all people but I have noticed a couple who made comments about banded people who "weren't doing it right, weren't following instructions as they were told and when they were banded they would always follow the rules" sigh....I am sorry if I sound b*tchy, I figure it is my blog and I can express myself here without going to the forums and hurting someones feelings inadvertently... Ok, I am going to curl up in bed as I have been feeling a little icky this past week or so and I am not doing myself any good being on the forum feeling this

Lost some poundage- bittersweet...
Ah yes sweet success, I lost 5 pounds in the past week and a half lol, so after being stagnant for what seemed forever I finally am moving.... but then again although this is freakin' sweet what really is striking me funny is that no matter how much I lose- there I am... (there is a book I have that is called "no matter where you go there you are" - highly recommend reading it folks) and essentially, no matter how much I change on the outside I am still me, loving, courageous, passionate, true to myself, loyal to those who deserve it... this is me, I am me through all my stupid mistakes, for all my failures and all my successes, I am not perfect, I am certainly not any better than those around me... I am humbled with each pound I lose, because it means I am losing a little bit more of the cushion, protection and such that I built around my body and I better learn to really like myself because soon that is all there is going to be...

My journey to a healthier me.
good luck to you and just remember that after the surgery all the things we think we knew just seem to go out the window some times  I know from personal experience and from people who have had this surgery it is easy to be so confident before actually experiencing the surgery and what comes with growing after wards, I am sure you will do wonderful and will find a lot of kind words and support here. Good luck to you.

Ok i think i am finally there
Hi there, I understand what you mean, I too tried to eat things like bread and bagels, quite frankly I just couldn't eat them. As far as splurges on something you like - that is normal - moderation is the key right? You are allowed to have some things in moderation - double check with your nutritionist if you really feel like you are eating something you shouldn't - but that is your choice doll ) It isn't always easy is it? I know that some times I think I have it all figured out and then some thing happens lol to screw me up and re-evaluate what I am doing  So what I am saying from one banded person to another is you are not alone and I look forward to reading more blogs  Barbie

Freaking out a little bit...
Congratulations! I would be so excited I wouldn't be able to stand myself My surgery was denied twice by my insurance before finally being approved so I think you are not only lucky but you can take it as a good omen! Barbie

out of control
Wow, it sounds like you have a lot going in your life. I do wonder about the antidepressant because the first thing I thought of was wow, that would sure mess up my emotions and hormones sending me for a loop. Good luck to you and take good care of yourself, I imagine you are still healing after that surgery and you just need some tlc time for yourself I will think good thoughts for you, Barbie
