  1. Has anybody had this test done? Its also called resting metabolic rate. A test that measures how many calories your body burns in a day at rest. This gives you an idea of how much you should being eating and working out to lose weight and gain lean muscle. I had this test done about 3 years ago and it did help me lose 45lbs-- But I of course stopped working out and following the eating plan and gained it all back nearly. When I had the test 3 years ago I weighed about 255lbs, and the trainer said I should eat 2500 calories a day to lose weight (and work out 4 days a week) and I did, and it worked! So I am soooooo excited and nervous to find out what my metabolism is now that I have lost 55lbs since my last test, (and went through a month of being starved basically.) Any thoughts, questions, input, etc, feel free!!!! I will follow up with the results!!!!!
  2. My surgeon says 6-8 weeks cause they are too acidic on your healing stomach.
  3. I did it the morning after surgery and I had to drink maybe 45 cc of fluid. It's a contrast mine was not barium and it was awful, i cried. You will survive!
  4. I feel the same way when I see pics! Everyone has been calling me skinny and then someone takes pics. I look at them and I am like "hey! I am still fat wth!" ugh soon I hope that changes.
  5. I am 3.5 months out and I have zero issues! Happy as a clam. (I of course felt like a bus hit me the first 3 days after due to the trauma of surgery) but thats it!!!! Best thing I have ever done for myself
  6. I have done the same in the past! For sure. But this time is different. People have seen my weight go up and down all the time. They knew I would fail. I still think even with my sleeve people think I am going to fail. But its not an option this time. We can do this! Thanks for the post!!
  7. You are very brave to post, I hope you work with a pyschologist through your journey! Good luck.
  8. Congrats!!! So excited for you. Be prepared for 3 days of feeling like hell, and then everyday gets better. I havn't been so happy and healthy EVER :-) yay for you!
  9. I was very swollen too. My leak test showed the contrast just sitting in my esophagus for a few mins before it would leak down slowly into my stomach. I knew it stayed this way for a least 2 weeks. I didn't feel 100% normal with eating and drinking until at least 4-6 weeks out. But all I can say it has been so worth it! I feel great now and I can gulp water like before!
  10. Wow, good for you!!!!
  11. You looked like a princess too!
  12. Wow, that is awesome to hear! Congrats to you!!! :-)
  13. I agree, once you are eating more solids you will slow down after you get the slimes once or twice! Try to avoid them, they are horrifying.
  14. You look amazing. You look about 170lbs!! And so young
  15. you look amazing! thank you for posting this, very inspirational!!!
  16. I have been sharing with close friends that I had finally made it into the 100's and a few of them were shocked! They assumed I weighed more like 160lbs!!! (I'm only 5'4'') Wow, I didn't believe the first one but then 3 more people said the same..... Wow and I thought I looked more like 220ish in my brain. :-) this has made my weekend!!! I would rather weigh more and look good than weigh less and look bad!
  17. Congrats, you are doing exemely well!!! Just think in a month or 2 you will be seeng the 100's! :-)
  18. I will make goal! And I do not low carb at all. I do eat 80 grams of protein a day though. It is possible. I don't want to low carb because in the past when I started eating carbs again after a long stretch of not eating carbs I will gain it all back. I just have carbs in moderation. (and thats what I want for maintenance)
  19. I'm a nurse and this doesn't sound sleeve related, Sounds like diverticulitis or a GI bug, possibly C. Diff (if you have taken any antibiotics lately) I would go see your primary care doc. ASAP!
  20. Come back to reality!!!!!! 47lbs in 2 months is crazy good!!!!! You are doing everything right. Just keep on doing what you are doing. There are benefits to slower weight loss-- and I would NOT consider you a slow loser. In the past it took me 14 months to lose 36lbs! and you have done this in 60 days. Just imagine where you will be in 6 months!!
  21. I wish this would happen to me :-) I am 3 1/2 months out too! As long as you are getting enough nutrition I think thats ok!!!
  22. This exactly how I felt. Its hard to do early on but since 1.5 months out I have been 1000+ calories. I shoot for 1200-1500 now honestly. I work out a lot. My weight loss has been great. I am lifting weights and jogging 3-5 days per week. I eat no sugar free or fat free anything. I eat 80 grams of protien daily. Trying to keep the engine reved! I did not want to mess my metabolism up either! I have not lost any hair, my skin is not saggy, and I feel amazing. I drink a lot of fluids. I am 40ish pounds from goal and I am 3.5 months out from surgery! I have gone from size 22-24 to a most recent size 15 in juniors. I think you have the right idea!
  23. I am the only one on here that doesn't do sugar free and fat free everything?? I feel horrible when I drink sugar free lattes, sugar free drinks, and have sugar free popsicles. Can you notice a difference when its not in your diet? I feel like it is toxic. I know it can help cut back on calories but I don't think that is needed for when I am (or others with VSG) are eating such small volumes of everything, plus I found out recently I need to eat at least 1200 cals a day to lose weight. I am not a carb counter- but I definately eat high protien first. Actually 80 grams per day. What is your opinion? What does your surgeon recommend? My surgeon's plan says eat sugar free and fat free everything but my NUT and the NPs I see know I won't follow that. One nurse mentioned she actually thinks it is better for some people. What do you think?
