  1. Starting around 2.5 months out my sleeve definately was healed and the swelling was all gone and I can eat perfect sizes now! one egg and half an english muffin is a typical meal for me. It takes me about 20 mins to eat. Loving it! I was a little sad to eat half an egg in the beginning so now I feel like its much more reasonable and the weight loss is great!
  2. I do not count carbs, but I don't have much room for them after I get my 80 grams of Protein in per day. I don't do sugar free, or fat free. I get a small latte everyday with 2% milk and regular vanilla syrup. I am 3.5 months out and 35lbs away from goal. I think all things in moderation is key!
  3. I think the important thing is getting your 65+ grams of protien per day and if you can do this without having oodles of sugar and carbs you should be ok! The premade protien drinks are nasty. But if you buy powder (I buy from GNC- 20 grams per scoop, low carb) chocolate flavor and mix in a blender with milk, ice, Peanut Butter and half a banana it tatses like a shake from Dairy Queen. and its 50 grams of Protein. (the good whey kind)
  4. I too had several food funerals and I gained at least 8 lbs in 2 months. it happens!!!
  5. Welcome! This site has been great throughout my process. Good luck on your journey!
  6. Start counting girl!! :-) Try to start with just counting protien. If you are not keeping track I can assure you that you probably not eating enough of it. If I don't keep track I end up with like 35 grams a day. I shoot for 80 grams per day. I find the weight loss completely stalls if I dont eat enough. Add in walking 3 days per week to start too and I think you will start to see the results!!! I keep track on myfitnesspal.com
  7. Please wait for the 2 weeks!! For your safety. It is so your sleeve can heal. If you start on softs foods early out with the fresh suture line and swelling you risk a leak and that is horrible news. You will be NPO (nothing by mouth- not even water) and have an IV with your nutrtion for weeks. I met a girl who got a leak a week out and she was on TPN (IV's only) for 5 weeks. She cried everytime at our support group. Its not worth the risk! You will be eating normal soon enough.
  8. At 10 days out I felt so tired too. This lasted until I was about 1 month out, then its all up hill from there! You are totally normal!
  9. love this, we are only human! My bad habbits are drinking with meals, diet coke, and a daily latte with regular vanilla syrup! yikes.....
  10. I'm only 3.5 months post op and I eat 1200 a day. I also work out a lot. For general health purposes I also feel like less than that is not healthy. Preop I ate 3500 minimum a day, I'm trying to maintain my muscle mass and skin elacicity. Slower is ok with me. Remember, you need to make a deficiency of 3500 calories to lose 1 pound, that's a lot! It takes time.
  11. I think so. It's the calcium that helps. You could even buy liquid Maalox at any drug store
  12. Most surgeons do prescribe a ppi (proton pump inhibitor) aka. Prilosec, Prevacid, nexium, or protonix for all sleeve patients. You should inquire with them- if you can drink a little milk that would help to relieve some acid immediately.
  13. If you are really worried milk of magnesia is a liquid you could take. I didn't have a bm for 7 days post op. this is normal.
  14. Could be acid reflux? When I get heartburn it feels like a sore throat slightly. Just a thought.
  15. The first week you need to focus on staying hydrated. After the swelling goes down you will be able to get your fluids and protien drinks. Just focus on fluids for now it's ok!!! This is normal. Everyday it gets better.
  16. Congrats!!! thank you for posting!
  17. I think it's different for everyone. I shoot for 1200 a day minimum. I would prefer a little slower weight loss so I can maintain my muscle mass and skin elasticity and not lose my hair! ( so far so good)
  18. I have only had the slimes 5 times, I get it from bagels and flat breads. It's horrible and I avoid it at all costs.
  19. I got a black Friday deal so I got buy one get one half off so I got 2 for 150 dollars. I will do one now, and one in 3 months or so! I am so curious where I am at cause the weight loss and the surgery. I'm nervous I'm eating too little or too much. I will keep you ladies posted! My appointment is Wednesday.
  20. Good question! I think most leaks actually do occur in the few weeks following surgery. There was a girl in my WLS support group that developed a leak due to terrible wretching and vomitting post op. Her test the day after was fine.
  21. good for you!!! You can make to Onderland!!!
  22. I am sorry to hear that, it must be a huge dissapointment! I hope you have better luck with the sleeve.
