  1. You will not need contrast with an endoscopy, they drug you up with versed and fentanyl and spray your throat with numbing stuff so you don't gag and run a little camera down to your stomach and search around. They can take samples or look for any problems while they are down there! It's painless and a breeze. Good luck !!
  2. I have a grande skim Vanilla latte everyday And I drink it in about an hour. It's my treat totally!!!
  3. you look amazing!!!! Thanks for the post, very inspiring~ Sorry to hear about your gall bladder :-(
  4. it was just so hard for me at first to get more than 300 calories a day in the very first month. I could hardly drink 16oz of fluid in a day for the first few weeks let alone protien drinks! (I was VERY swollen post op) I totally technically starved for the fist month, not by choice! the first 55lbs came of with little to no effort, and now the last 30ish will be directly related to the good diet and keeping up with my workouts! and thats ok!! Have have never felt so good and looked so healthy!
  5. once it happens you are doomed for about 45 mins! Stay close to a bathroom or garbage can! I have had it happen 5 times, and once I ate breakfast and went to a meeting and ended running out of the meeting with a slime ball coming up into my hand! It was horrifying! Sometimes it would be quick and I would toss up one slimer, but once I slimed up slime like 5 times. (Sorry if TMI) :drool5: Luckily you find out your triggers (like not chewing well enough for me, and I have to steer clear of Subway flat bread) and it happens less and less the further out you get.
  6. wow!!! Congrats how exciting!!!
  7. I am going to be honest-- it was no picnic. But you will manage! I wasn't fully prepared for how I would feel post-op-- and I have been a nurse for 8 years! I really had no pain-- just discomfort in my abdomen and the more I walked, the better I felt. It is so nice to get the IV out of your arm and sleep in your own bed at home! Trust me I would do it again. Feeling how I feel now makes it sooooo worth it!
  8. I didn't the feeling of fullness (like pre-sleeve) per se until I was 1.5- 2 months out........ I think the nerves are still healing and thats why it took so long to feel it again? Big difference post op on what make you full though!
  9. I will start ! 55 pounds lost post op in less than 4 months!
  10. the only con for me was the 1.5 months of actual starvation leading to the muscle I lost, and the hair I am losing now cause of that 1.5 months. BUT! I am rebuilding the muscle now, eating the right amounts of eveything to be healthy and lose weight. I could not have done this (or continue to do this) with out my sleeve so that 1.5 months was worth it!!!!!
  11. Holli, its like riding a bike! Get back on and ride. Get all your water in, record every morsel that goes in your mouth, and start working out! You can do this!!!! :-)
  12. Wow I am jealous! You havn't even once weighed yourself????
  13. I don't use the website you are using, and its blocked at my work so I cannot go to the site. I use lily slim for my ticker (its not blocked at work!) you could try them? and pick the option below. I hope that helps! PseudoHTML, UBBCode and BB Code
  14. Everyone is completely different. I only count protien- 80 grams a day or more and cals 1200-1500 a day. I'm definitely at the high end for cals compared to most people on the site. But that's what's working for me!
  15. :banane58: Thanks!!! I am excited to lose the last 35lbs and I am ok if it takes another year... as long as I am healthy!
  16. I havn't been quite so lucky, but I have only been noticing more hair on my jacket and brush in the past week. I have been taking biotin as well since 3 weeks out. I eat 80 grams of protien a day minium as well. My hair still looks thick.... as of now. 3-4 months out seems to be when is strikes- so you seem to be out of the woods!! Congrats and thanks for the tips I am going to try Nioxin.
  17. congrats!!! Looking so good! Keep up the good work!
  18. from what I understand there is still a risk of getting this condition--Megaesophagus but it is much less in VSG than it is with the band. The risks are greater in the begining when your stomach is still very swollen and healing. If you follow your plan there should be no problems.
  19. oops I should have said LIfetime Fitness-- the gym. I don't think these are probably done at a normal clinic.......
  20. I had my RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) checked at Lifetime today! This test is conducted while laying down in a bed type chair, and you wear a sealed mask on your face for about 20 mins. The tests measures how much C02 you breathe out while completelty at rest, and other components. It measures how many calories you burn a day will completely at rest. I had mentioned before I had this test in 2008, and I weighed 255lbs, my RMR was 2500 calories a day. (it was helpful I lost 45lbs in 9 months after that) Today 3.5 months after VSG it is 1390! Not too shabby considering I had a month of starvation after VSG surgery and I am weighing 60lbs less. I am to eat no less than 1390 cals a day or I will lose my muscle instead of fat. (I have not lost more than 4lbs in the last month but I have been working with my trainer to rebuild my almost 16lbs of muscle I lost while only being able to consume 400 cals a day) I was advised my my trainer to eat about 1700 cals a day actually. (He also says it should be primarily protien and healthy fat, and veggies) Most people at 3.5 months out cannnot reach this goal but I can. My restriction is still good but I can eat 2 wholes eggs in 20mins. (pre-vsg I could eat 2 eggs, 3 slices of toast, a side of hashbrowns, a glass of OJ and 2 sauage links!) I am a firm believer in feeding your body and not starving it. I love my sleeve- It is built in self control. I am so excited about these results- I will be post pics soon- I look completely different.. My waist is 4 inches smaller then it was a month ago but I only have lost 4lbs-- Its from eating more and building back all the muscle I have lost!!!!!!!
  21. Welcome to the 100's!!! It feels great doesn't it! You are doing so well!
  22. I think slower weight loss is healthier. I am purposely losing slowly to preserve my muscle mass, my hair, and to keep my skin tight-- so far so good!!!!
  23. i would check with your doc. I blend mine up so well that there are no chunks and its very smooth. If you are on full liquids/ mushies then you should be fine!
  24. I lose is spurts for sure. I won't see any movement for like 2 or 3 weeks and then I will drop 3-7 lbs in a few days!!! Its hard to not see the scale move for a long time. Its best to weigh like 2 times a month. Its hard to stay off the scale though!!! :boxing_smiley:
