Gastric Sleeve Leak Test

Recommended Posts

Hi

I was wondering if the post op leak test requires you to drink barium. I was told nothing by mouth until I had a leak test. I cannot imagine swallowing barium after surgery. Please advise.

Thanks

That is true and I did not find it too difficult. They tell you drink as fast as you can, I drank it down in two small gulps and didnt feel a thing.

I was anxious to get the test done so I could get something to eat!!

I don't know if my leak test was barium. I didn't ask what the viscous blue Fluid was. I just stuck the straw in my mouth and tried to swallow it without turning my teeth blue!

hmm...my leak test stuff was clear...and thick....

I was given a big cup full, and told to keep taking tiny sips over and over...

And I didnt have to drink the whole cup...maybe 1/4 of it.

It was gross tasting, but over fast.

I did it the morning after surgery and I had to drink maybe 45 cc of Fluid. It's a contrast mine was not barium and it was awful, i cried. You will survive!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
