  1. Thanks Estrellita, I took dinner tonight (black bean soup pureed) very slowly and everything went fine. I had though perhaps eating too quickly or eating dairy was the problem. I don't think I'm over eating. I'm still on liquids and I don't eat more than 2 tbs of soup or yogurt as soon as I start to feel full or burp I stop.
  2. Yeah they do if you read it will say kids 12 and under or something like that. When I was a server I had a few people just say they had WLS and wanted to order off the kiddie menu and I always let them. If my manager would have come by or take the food to the table I would have probably gotten into trouble but oh well. I'd just order off the kids menu (unless it's buffett) and then if they refuse speak to the mgr it's probably the mgr that is keeping them from allowing you to anyway.
  3. I thought the same thing before surgery but then I said to myself it would be impossible to lose 5lbs a month with the calorie reduction I would be having. I was eating upwards of 2000 calories a day so to cut it down to 800 would still mean a huge loss. I reasoned if I only lose 10lbs a month, which I know I could do on a simple 1200 calorie diet, I would have lost 120lbs in a year and that's pretty awesome. The great thing is that as long as we don't go crazy it won't come back on for once. That, to me, is the best reason to have the surgery!
  4. So I will be two weeks out tomorrow and I have lost a total of 25lbs including 5 pre-op. Woot! My wounds are healing up nicely though they itch. I have quite a bit of energy and have felt basically back to my old self since returning home. I have not made my protien requirement on any day and I'm just working on getting in my Water. Eating has become an unenjoyable chore to me. I hate to do it. I'd rather just drink all day. When I do eat my heart starts racing and I feel like I need to go lay down. I'm a housekeeper and I went back to work yesterday. I was SO no ready. I would bend over to pick something up and get very dizzy. A house that usually takes me 6 hours took me almost 9. I won't be doing that again for 2 more weeks. Once I got home I had to take a hot shower and nap. My shoulders were killing me. I'm not sure why that was. I still have thrush, I've tried beating it on my own with yogurt but that is just controling it so I'm calling my Dr today to get an Rx. I'm also still not using artificial sweetners (aside from the flavored syrups) in anything. I had Dr Oz on while I was working and again it just confirmed my thoughts on those. Water is starting to taste a lot better. Right after surgery it had a metallic taste to it. Anyway those are my thoughts. I'm so happy I've had the sleeve I cannot wait to see where I am next month!!! xposted at OH
  5. Just started on shakes and i LOVE mine.
  6. She shouldn't have said that but the reason most servers are annoyed is you are taking up their table, ordering a small amount of food and probably tipping based on your check total. Servers make 2.13 an hour and if you have someone like us who with a partner only eats a little food, then we take a long time to eat, and leave a little tip it can really cut into their bring home pay. You are only given 3-4 tables so each time you turn one you make money and usually the higher the bill the bigger the tip.
  7. I use the Chocolate Monster Protien, they also have Strawberry and Vanallia I believe.
  8. What is giving you trouble? The taste? Do they settle bad? I couldnt' find a good tasting one so I bought the ottawala protien drinks and I take 3/4 a serving (not a bottle) blend it with 1 cup goat's milk but any milk would do fine, 1 tbs of yogurt and 1/4 a banana then I add some ice and voila it's yummy. Here are the stats This is for 1 serving. Like I said I get about 3 shakes out of a 2 serving bottle. 220 calories 4gm fat 27 carbs 18 protien Plus you have to add in your info from your milk/banana/yogurt. My goal is to be between 800-1000 calories/day eventually so this might be too many calories for you. You can always dilute it down with more skim milk and ice but it works for me.
  9. Sounds like everything went well! I bet you can't wait to get that damned drain out!
  10. I just drink regular things like apple/grape/cranberry juice. I drink Vit water or just plain water. I eat full sugar juice pops and jello. At this stage where I'm on liquids I'm barely getting in 400-600 cals as it is so I'm not worried about the sugar. Once I get onto mushies and reg food I'll just drink water or unsweetened tea. The taste of artificial sweetners post op seriously made me gag and I don't think they are good for you either.
  11. Could you drink some milk instead of water? I try to use goat's milk because it's easier for the body to process and has 8gm of protien or maybe greek yogurt ?
  12. It concerns me that 1 you just had a big surgery(ies) and that you have limited mobility and that you are having pain in your legs. Call your Doctor and try not to walk around a whole lot till you have talked to him. You could have a blood clot in your leg. I had one in 2003 and mine hurt right behind the knees.
  13. Ahhh I read it was the white ones not clear ones. Don't think it has much to do with age, my hubby has been legally blind since he was 20 but my bad on the misread.
  14. Just wanted to say that I'm 10 days out and I was told I could have watermelon. I think it's common sense not to eat the white or black seeds but I really dont' see how it could be a problem.
  15. Just remember you will beable to eat those foods again. Just not right now. I did the low carb diet and kept my carbs below 30g a day. Some people space theirs out through the day but I would basically try to eat as few carbs as I could like for breakfast eggs, bacon, water and lunch lunch meat, cheese, a few almonds. So I had the bulk of my carbs for later in the day and I could have a hamburger with all my favs and a bottom piece of the bun. I lost 5lbs in a week. Good luck!
  16. I'm onto full liquids but what does that even mean? Can I take a chunky Soup like chicken noodle (for example) and blend it up till there aren't any big chunks and eat that? I'm going to GNC to get some shakes today so I know I can have those. Is yogurt full liquids? I could drink it through a straw. I wish I had a Costco/Trader Joes around here for the peanut powder and the yummy shakes Enough ramblings. What did YOU eat during your full liquid phase?
  17. I had a dream just last night that I was eating Rice Krispy treats and then I realized that I had VSG and I started to panic. It's funny because yesterday we took the kids to a Halloween party where they grilled out and there were Rice Krispy treats there and it is easy for me to forget I had VSG.
  18. <hugs> I'm sorry you are feeling down.
  19. I came home with Nexium you are given a 2wk supply but you can buy more there. I also had 4 doses of Supredol (sp) which is a non-narcotic painkiller and you can buy more of that there too if you want. I only had back pain on the flight home I'd upgrade to firstclass or ask for bulkhead seats so you can move more. I took 100 bucks for me and my Mom and it was fine. I actually used debit card for most everything.
  20. No advice but I'm thinking of you and I hope you heal up quickly!
  21. I can almost take the same size drinks as I could preop. Infact the only time I feel pain is if I'm drinking and I think "OMG I just had surgery that was too big a drink" then I feel pain but the other 2/3 of the cup when I forgot I was postop goes down fine. It's a lot easier with warm drinks so I'm drinking decaf coffee with sugar free syrup in it.
  22. That is so awesome. Size 10 jeans?!?!? <cheer!>
  23. It doesn't make sense to me to eat 3 meals a day with 2-3 bites. There isn't a way to get in your needed nutrition for your body to function well. If we are doing exersice to make our bodies stronger we are using up more calories. The reason we got this surgery is we aren't listening to our bodies. We don't pay attention to full signs or hunger signs. With the smaller stomach we have to pay much more attention. It only makes sense that each person's eating habits should depend on the amount of activity, the amount they are able to get, and their calorie goals. It is a very personal number. I, myself, will never eat 3 meals a day. I have learned through Nutrition classes long before hearing about this surgery and my sucessful attempts at weight loss that my body and my mind do better at 5 small meals or "grazing" as some call it. Like the previous poster I also, before surgery, would eat a little something before going shopping or to a party so I didn't feel the need to over indulge. I'm glad to hear everyone's experiences though!
  24. 1. So I don't develop diabetes and have my legs cut off like my aunts and uncles 2. So I can have more energy to play with my kids and set a good example for them 3. I am sick of buying overpriced ugly fat clothes 4. I want to know what it feels like to be thin and not have my world revolve around food 5. To be able to get a job because I'm the best, instead of being looked over for my weight.
