You're right! We can if we want to.
  2. I have learned a lot from you and others on this site. Thank you all. I try to help others with my journey even though it is shorter than yours. Each of us have learned through our own progress and failures. Tonight I was full and wanted something but had nothing because I don't want to fail. Thank you again for your views and pics of your surgeries.
  3. When in doubt call the dietitian. They know what will agree with you. Good luck.
  4. Very proud of the improved you, Bea. I am the same. I see loose skin and it really bothers me. What will I look like this coming summer in a swim suit with extra skin hanging. My husband said wear shorts. Since the band I am off all my pills except the vitamins that I was told to take. I joined a gym a few weeks ago, yes I am the largest I have seen but I am moving. Good luck and don't be so hard on yourself.
  5. You're doing great! i still eat pizza, just not a lot either. I feel like telling overweight people there is help but don't. I have a cousin who had by pass, she is and RN, and she is gaining her weight back and blames the doctor not her snacking or wine everyday or real drinks out with her husband. Her mother had by pass over 25 years ago and she gained everything back and some. Maybe the sleeve is for people that have zero control over their lives. Very proud of you, keep it up.
  6. I buy Zone bars. I love the chocolate with almonds and the double chocolate. For protein drink, I buy Body Fortress in chocolate and I add peppermint extract, decaf instant coffee and lots of ice. I use skim milk. I have a small blender that becomes my drinking cup and the shake fills me for 3-5 hours. That is the only thing I have for breakfast, for the last 10 months. Good luck.
  7. Good for you to decide to take control like all us here. We were all in your shoes at one time or another. Best thing I did for me was to get the band in July. We are all here to help you with all your questions. Lots of luck!
  8. Wonderful! Good luck. We are all here for your needs and questions.
  9. Just got home from having a manicure. You're doing great. Play poker on line and that keeps your mind off food. I play for hours every day on Poker Stars.
  10. Food-between my pre op and after op diet, I know longer care about food like I did before the band. So maybe you will be as lucky as me with that. I just had lunch with my grandsons and had pizza and before the diet I could have eaten almost a large myself and now 2 slices more than fills me. You are doing great! Keep it up. A small trick I learned many years ago. Your desire to eat something usually goes away after 20 minutes. Polish your nails every day with clear polish, now your nails are wet and you can't eat. Great trick.
  11. Sorry to hear about your grandfather. With stress some people go back to bad eating habits. Just try to focus on the new and improved you. Good luck with insurance. Mine was cancelled and they didn't tell me or my husband. We need insurance but they all have us over a barrel and they can get away with everything. Enjoy your weekend.

Hi, I had a cousin who did by pass over 25 years ago and they didn't know much in those days. They found out later that it was lack of protein. Do you aim for 100 g a day? Call your doctor and ask. Good luck.

Good afternoon everyone. tonight on 20/20 they are going to have the People 1/2 their size on. Good program to get inspired! I got inspired this morning, less than one pound to go and I will be under 200. I haven't seen that number in many many years and I am looking forward to it. Enjoy your TGIF, all.
  14. Just got my new People and it's the half their size issue!!!!!!!! I always felt jealous of their success and now I can be a success story like them. Who would have thought one year ago I would be down 66 lbs. at this time. Great start of the new year for all of us. We are facing our over eating and doing something about it. We all should stand up and cheer for ourselves and all on this site!!!
  15. Well I joined the gym December 17th with my husband. We try to go 3-5 times a week. Just got home and must say the 2 of us have improved our work outs. I can now do the bike for 20 minutes. When I started I was at 10 minutes and level 1 and now up to level 4 or 5. I try other machines for the legs and arms. My husband has been very sick and extremely weak and he is enjoying the gym. He once was a work out nut, like 30 something years ago. My husband almost died 15 months ago and is still not good, he collects SSD at age 61. It sucks. The gym is helping him a lot and making him feel better about himself. We only go for about 1/2 hour right now but at least we are moving We live in the Boston area and it's around 10 tonight or maybe colder with the wind chill so you have to do in door exercises. They gym is cheap, $10. per month a person. Best $20. we have spent in years! Enjoy your evening. Arlene
  16. It's not you, it's everyone. After a few days you'll forget about food. After the surgery you will get bored with food, or at least I did. I have thick shakes for breakfast and had those during my liquid days. Add lots of ice and blend well. They fill you up better than just liquid. I do get burps from the air but a small price to pay for a new body. Good luck.
  17. Good for you. I am going to the gym real soon. On the bike I am up to 3 miles. Every step forward is wonderful. I have a sick husband and he joined with me and he is going very slow and it is making him feel better, also. Best investment we have made in December. Enjoy your day and the cold. Boston is so cold this week.

The port location. When I get a fill the doctor has me raise both legs and he can see where it is. Mine is about 3" above and to the left of the belly button. I think everyone's is a little different. When I had the band I had my stomach moved down because it was too high. If an incision hurts put some ice on it. That should help or call the doctor tomorrow before the holiday. Good luck.

I am very proud of you! You are taking back control and taking care of yourself!! We are all here to help.listen and never judge because none of us are perfect. Have a great New Years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You deserve it. We all do.
  21. My husband says I still eat too fast. For me, I think it is slow. I do drink a real lot. I don't chew 30 times, depends on the foods as to how much I chew. I guess it's time for a re due. Thanks for the post.
  22. Congrats! on your surgery. I don't remember eating some of the foods you are eating so soon. I was told no grapes because you can't digest the skin or the membrane from the oranges. Did you get a list of foods? I find that protein shakes made with ice are very filling. Have you tried any? I still have them for breakfast and stay full 3-5 hours. Sugar free Popsicles and sugar free fudge type are good. Maybe try calling your hospital and they can help. Good luck!
  23. Good luck and Happy NEW NEW Year to you. I make my protein shakes with lots of ice and they are very thick and make you think that you are at McDonald's drinking their shakes. They also fill you more than just a protein drink. I was banded in July and still have a shake for breakfast because I am not a breakfast eater. I don't get tired of them. I only drink chocolate and add decaf coffee and peppermint extract. They do taste great.

I don't share my numbers, weight/weight loss with family or friends other than here. I feel safe here because other banders don't judge. My husband knows and I have told my sons some pounds lost but have stopped. I feel everyone judges others, I have also, so I know what I am talking about. I told my sons about me fitting into size 16 jeans but didn't tell their wives. One wife, she has mental problems, long story, she would be hurt because she has gotten heavy and squeezes into a 16. She once made a comment that I was almost her size and her stretchie pants were skin tight. Wearing tight clothes make you look heavier and unkept. You can still look good and dress nice and be heavy. Have a great weekend everyone.
  25. I only do real foods. I eat butter not fake chemicals. Talking about dressing, in MA we have a famous steak house, Ken's. They have their own salad dressings and marinades. I have been using their diet Caesar as a marinade for about 15-20 years. It is wonderful. I also buy their Sesame Ginger Marinade, sodium free. They are very good. I don't use salad dressing on salad, never have. I eat salad dry. I am weird.
