  1. I would suggest you wait until cleared by your doctor. My doctor cleared me for lifting that much weight at four weeks. What if you lie on the bed and have your boyfriend lift baby up to snuggle up with you? Or sit in a chair?
  2. I remember keeping my right leg straight and carefully doing the climbing out with my left leg.
  3. Great question!
  4. My reason for not telling people has nothing to do with them being supportive or not. I am private about my personal life and this falls into the personal life folder. I would not be interested if someone told me about their weight loss surgery and do not want to go outside someone else's comfort level or bore them. Excuse me for saying this. I know many of you have told a lot of people about your upcoming or recent surgery and are excited so many of them are supportive. How do you know what they are saying behind your back? Gossip can be cruel and can affect your standing with "friends" and in the office. I don't mean to say you are wrong. If you need the support and think you can get it, go for it. You certainly know your situation better than I.
  5. It's in grocery stores in my area.
  6. I use plain Greek Fage (pronounced Fa-yeh) yogurt. It tastes like sour cream, so some people don't like it, but it is right up my alley. For one cup, it has 9 grams of carbs, all from natural sugar (no added sugar). It also has 23 grams of protein!!! In addition to eating it plain, sometimes I use it on a little bit of baked potato, a little bit of taco filling or anything else that screams out for sour cream. The problem with the yogurts you probably are looking at is the fruit and sugars added.
  7. Remember all of the reasons you need the surgery.
  8. I can, too. I don't really understand why it would be necessary to just take sips other than in the first couple of weeks.
  9. Talk to your doctor's office before getting it. You don't want to jeopardize the surgery for any reason.
  10. I started walking as soon as I got home from the hospital and increased the distance every day. I waited on moderate/heavy exercise until my doctor cleared me at four weeks.
  11. jailynn there is a way to make corrections to a post you have made. I would be lost without it. At the bottom of your post, next to MultiQuote, is a faint outline of the word edit. Click on that and you will be able to make changes to your post even after publishing it.
  12. Hope you are out soon.
  13. I have been sleeved for six weeks and am having trouble getting through a full day without being totally exhausted. Is this exhaustion normal or could it be my diet. My diet consists of at least 64 oz fluids, 60 grams protein, 600-700 calories. I take 2 children's vitamins daily, calcium, B12. Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?
  14. Okay, I am really pleased about my experience as you will tell from my comments. I felt very prepared for the surgery. I was given only two weeks notice of the surgery because I filled the spot of someone else, but I was ready. My biggest surprise was how quickly I recovered from the surgery. I didn't find the pre-op diet to be onerous. Considering the changes expected as a result of the surgery, it is a small price to pay. The post-op diet was a little harder, maybe because I just wanted to get on with my new life. On the pre- and post-op diets, I had trouble getting the Protein in, but I did do it. Once on a regular diet, I had trouble getting the fluids in, but I made myself do it because there was no way I was going to have to get an IV.
  15. Thank you! Thank you! I would never have guessed some of those.
  16. I like Fage greek yogurt at 23 grams protein for 1 cup. It tastes like sour cream. When I was on the liquid and soft foods diets it saved me from having to drink protein drinks.
  17. I've heard nothing about having shakes for that long. My nutritionist said I shouldn't be having shakes at all by the six month mark. I'm at six weeks and getting all my Protein from regular food and she is ecstatic about it.
  18. eggs (add cheese for more protein), oatmeal or grits with milk, cottage cheese with fresh fruit, string cheese, babybel cheese, soy sausage links, whole grain toast with 2 tablespoons peanut butter, yogurt (don't get the kind with fruit already in it, add your own no sugar added fruit)
  19. I dumped the sweets and started eating small amounts of healthy food, concentrating on the proteins. I also tried to establish the habits necessary once sleeved - no liquids a half hour before and after eating; cut food into very small pieces before eating; and eat very, very slowly at the table.
  20. You may not even need pain meds when you go home.
  21. I would think most people wouldn't want to talk about it, would consider it tmi. Most people who are "friends" or acquaintances really just don't care that much about us. Also, It is distracting to talk about it in the workplace and wastes time that should be spent working.
  22. You will most likely be able to take care of yourself, but the children may be another matter. Is there any possibility of getting someone to help with them. On the other hand, some people on this board have taken care of themselves and their children without help. It really depends on your own surgery experience and how well the children can help take care of themselves/each other.
  23. I was told that, during the after surgery liqiud diet, juices need to be cut 50% with Water.
  24. Is it possible to go to the person who did your psych exam or to a psychologist? He/she may be able to help you figure out what is happening.
