Health Insurance Mandate
I doubt the ruling will immediately change anything for sleevers. While people will be required to have insurance, there is no requirement that the insurance specifically cover procedures such as the sleeve.

Caffeine?
My doctor approved one cup of coffee a day but no more. Some of his patients have developed ulcers from too much coffee.

Sleeve/gallbladder Out Vs. Not Same Time-- Recovery And Other Things
I don't know the answer to most of your questions so I won't venture a guess. I do wonder, though, if it makes a difference to know which changes are due to the gall bladder removal and which are due to the sleeve. They are both permanent and we have to accept what comes with that. That said, I had my gall bladder removed some years before my sleeve surgery and experienced no changes whatsoever.

What a great story. I laughed all the way through it. Good luck this evening!

Psychologist Visit For The Gastric Sleeve?
My psychologist just talked to me. She asked questions that can easily be answered. It was no big deal.

Bottled Water
I don't do bottled water. Fortunately, my tap water is fine. When I want something more I use Mio's mango/peach flavor. It is superb. It is the only water flavoring I need.

Pie Chart Question For Mfp
Thanks for bringing up this topic. I have been wondering myself.

Kayak?
Has your doctor cleared you for all exercise and activity? If so, you need to decide for yourself if you can do it. What about a short paddle before the weekend?

Going Out To Eat
I won't penalize the wait staff for policies made by their bosses. In fact, even when I am able to order smaller quantities (appetizer, side, etc.) I pay as much tip as if I had ordered a whole meal. A waiter works as hard for my small meal as for a larger meal.

Going Out To Eat
My doctor gave me a card, but I don't use it. I haven't told people close to me about my surgery, why would I tell a total stranger? At some places, I order appetizers or sides. If I order a whole meal, I take the leftovers home. It sounds to me as if your restaurant is, or is like, IHOP. Of course, everyone's tastes and approaches are different, but when I go there, I order a meal with eggs, hash browns, meat and pancakes. I eat what I want of the eggs and take the rest home for my husband to have for Breakfast the next morning. In some situations, my approaches don't work and food is wasted. Better wasted than as fat on my body.

Gum And Natural/whole Foods
I would find it impossible to eat a mostly vegetable and whole grain diet and still get in the 60 grams of protein. At nutrition class, I was told, "protein first, then vegetables, then carbs."

Fluids And Meals
I think I understand the reason for not drinking after meals, but why no fluids for 30 minutes before meals?

Does Anyone Have Some Time To Help Me With This Letter?
Enclosed are the reports of my physical and my lab tests. These are the final items my insurance company requested to support approval of payment for my bariatric surgery. My doctors have determined that substantial permanent weight loss is necessary to mitigate the current and future cost and quality-of-life effects of my obesity. I would like to remind you of my current health issues, the reason for the necessity of the surgery. They include --hypertension despite being treated with Metoprolol, --cranial hypertension which causes me to have severe headaches, --metabolic syndrome, --high cholesterol despite being treated with Niacin 500mg daily, --pre-diabetes currently being controlled by Metformin 750mg two times per day, -- urinary stress incontinence requiring use of a pantyliner all the time and maxi pad at night, --polycystic ovarian syndrome despite being treated with Metformin 750mg two times per day, --GERD despite being treated with Nexium, and --high triglycerides despite being treated with Niacin 500mg daily I anxiously await your decision.

How Long After Surgery Do You Need Help? P.s. Just Started Getting Nervous
It all depends. I had no problems after my surgery and was able to take care of myself.

How Can People Not See It?
I don't say anything to others about their weight loss for all of the reasons Emlefe states. Also, for the same reason it is not acceptable to comment on weight gain, I don't comment on weight loss. Let's face it, people who lose weight are very likely to gain it again. Of course, we are in a different situation, but others don't know that.

Don't Hate
I'm disgusted someone would treat you as this person did. You owe no one an explanation.

After four weeks, but only in very very small quantities.

5 Week Stall
I'm 62 and in the same situation. The doctor said to try upping my exercise and I have; still on the same plateau.
